April 29, MOUNT ST. JOSEPH
The Lady Jackets ended the season losing a non-conference doubleheader to Mount St. Joseph, 9-6 and 7-1. In the opener, the Jackets jumped out to a 4-1 lead but MSJ's 18-hit attack was too much. Senior third baseman Erika Miller was 3-for-4 with a double, triple, and two RBI. (GAME 1 BOXSCORE)The Lions belted out 14 hits in game two to just five for Cedarville. Jennifer Cassidy singled home Noella Fisher for the home team's only run while Lara Gyurik doubled. (GAME 2 BOXSCORE) Erika Miller batted a career-best .441 and finishes as the school's all-time leading hitter with a .373 average over four seasons.
April 26, TAYLOR
Cedarville and Taylor split one-run decisions in a non-conference doubleheader. The Yellow Jackets took the first game 4-3 with Erika Miller going 3-for-3 at the plate. Becky Summers had two hits and Lara Gyurik was the winning pitcher. (GAME 1 BOXSCORE Summers led off the second game with a homer to help Cedarville build a 6-4 lead, but the Trojans rallied for an 8-7 win. Noella Fisher was 3-for-3 with two RBI while Erika Miller was 2-for-3 with a triple and two runs scored. (GAME 2 BOXSCORE)
April 24, WILMINGTON
Cedarville swept a non-conference doubleheader from longtime rival Wilmington, 8-6 and 3-1. The Lady Jackets trailed 4-1 and then 6-5 before rallying for three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning in the opener. Erika Miller was 2-for-4 with a double and three runs scored. Noella Fisher was 2-for-4 with a double and two runs while Becky Summer and Christine Olbrich each had two hits. Winning pitcher Lara Gyurik struck out six and did not allow an earned run. (GAME 1 BOXSCORE) In game two, Cedarville gave up an unearned run in the first inning, answered with two runs in the bottom of the frame, and then added an insurance run in the fourth. Winning pitcher Bonnie Schaefer and Erika Miller were each 2-for-3 with a double. Melissa Sprankle and Becky Summer also doubled. (GAME 2 BOXSCORE)
April 22, at Shawnee State
Mid-Ohio Conference leader Shawnee State, ranked No. 2 in the NAIA, swept the Lady Jackets, 4-1 and 12-2, in a doubleheader played under the lights. The first game was tied 1-1 until the Bears scored three times in the bottom of the sixth inning. Bonnie Schaefer was 2-3 at the plate for Cedarville. (GAME 1 BOXSCORE) SSU bolted to an 11-0 lead through three innings of game two which was stopped after the fifth by the eight-run rule. Erika Miller was 1-for-3 with a triple and an RBI. April 21, at Wittenberg
Wittenberg swept the Jackets, 3-0 and 11-9, in a non-conference twinbill. Cedarville was blanked for the seventh time this season in the opener. It was the fifth occasion in the past nine games they failed to score a run. The contest was scoreless until the Tigers crossed the plate three times in the bottom of the sixth inning. (GAME 1 BOXSCORE) Wittenberg jumped to leads of 5-0 and 8-1 in the second game. Cedarville rallied with four runs in the seventh inning and had the go ahead run at the plate when it ended. Becky Summers was 3-for-4 with a double and three runs scored while Michelle Dick had a pair of hits. (GAME 2 BOXSCORE)
April 19, FINDLAY
It was an odd doubleheader of sorts with Findlay winning the opener, 8-0, and the Jackets edging out a 3-2 victory in game two. The two teams got in only one game at Findlay on April 8 due to snow, so they got together in Cedarville with the first game designated as the other Mid-Ohio Conference contest. The home team managed a scant four hits in the game which was halted after five innings due to the eight-run rule. (GAME 1 BOXSCORE) In the non-league game, Cedarville plated three runs in the first inning and then used defense to hold the Oilers off. The Jackets turned double plays in each of the last two innings. Erika Miller was 3-for-3 at the plate with a run scored and an RBI. (GAME 2 BOXSCORE)
April 18, MALONE
Cedarville and Malone exchanged shutouts in a Mid-Ohio Conference doubleheader. The visiting Pioneers took the first game, 3-0. The Yellow Jackets came up with only three singles in the game. (GAME 1 BOXSCORE) Winning pitcher Bonnie Schaefer notched Cedarville's first shutout of the season in the nightcap with a 4-0 win. The Jackets scored all of their runs in the fourth inning. Three came on a bases loaded double by Andrea Butz, who later scored on Lara Gyurik's single. (GAME 2 BOXSCORE)
April 14, at Walsh
The Cavaliers held the Cedarville offense in check while sweeping a Mid-Ohio Conference doubleheader, 1-0 and 7-1. The Yellow Jackets mustered just three singles in the opener, two from Erika Miller and another from Michelle Dick. Losing pitcher Lara Gyurik deserved a better fate after allowing an unearned run on only four hits. (GAME 1 BOXSCORE) It was all Walsh in the nightcap as the hosts jumped to a 5-0 lead. April 11, URBANA
Urbana swept a Mid-Ohio Conference doubleheader from the Jackets, 2-0 and 8-3. Both teams managed just four hits in the opener, but three Cedarville errors allowed the visitors to score both runs unearned. (GAME 1 BOXSCORE) In game two, the Blue Knights jumped to a 5-0 lead after two innings and never looked back. Noella Fisher was 2-for-2 with an RBI for the Yellow Jackets while Melissa Sprankle was 2-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI. (GAME 2 BOXSCORE)
April 10, RIO GRANDE
The Lady Jackets rallied to complete a Mid-Ohio Conference doubleheader sweep of Rio Grande, 9-4 and 8-7. Cedarville ended a four-game losing streak in winning the opener. The hosts used a four-run third inning to take the lead and then turned two double plays to hold the Redwomen at bay. Erika Miller was 2-for-2 with a double and two runs scored. Michelle Dick doubled in two runs in the decisive third inning, and winning pitcher Lara Gyurik helped herself with two hits. (GAME 1 BOXSCORE) In Game 2, the Jackets rallied for three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning for a dramatic victory. Becky Summers and Lara Gyurik delivered one-out, RBI singles to tie the game at 7-7. One out later, Summers sprinted home with the winning run on a wild pitch. Cedarville spotted Rio four runs in the first inning before coming back. The home team turned two more double plays. Noella Fisher was 3-for-4 at the plate while winning pitcher Bonnie Schaefer aided her cause with two hits. (GAME 2 BOXSCORE)
April 8, at Findlay
Findlay bolted to a seven-run lead en route to a 10-4 Mid-Ohio Conference victory over the Lady Jackets. Game 2 was snowed out. The host Oilers scored three times in the first inning and added four runs in the second to take control. Melissa Sprankle continued her hot hitting for Cedarville by going 3-for-4. (BOXSCORE)
April 3, TIFFIN
Tiffin swept a Mid-Ohio Conference doubleheader from the Yellow Jackets, 13-0 and 5-3. The Dragons exploded for 21 hits in the opener. Eight hits in a row and 12 total came during a nine-run third inning. (GAME 1 BOXSCORE) The nightcap took eight innings to decide. Cedarville spotted the visitors two runs but rallied for a 3-2 lead. Tiffin tied it in the sixth inning and won it with two in the eighth. Erika Miller was 3-for-4 with a double and a run batted in. Lara Gyurik and Noella Fisher each finished 2-for-4. April 1, MT. VERNON NAZARENE
The Lady Jackets split a Mid-Ohio Conference twinbill with Mt. Vernon Nazarene winning the opener, 2-1, and dropping the nightcap, 6-4. Erika Miller broke a 1-1 tie in the first game by leading off the sixth inning with a solo home run. She was 2-for-3 at the plate with two RBI. Melissa Sprankle and Michelle VanLier had two hits each. (GAME 1 BOXSCORE) In game two, the Jackets led 2-0 before surrendering four unearned runs in the fifth and they could never recover. Sprankle continued her hot day at the plate with three more hits including a double. (GAME 2 BOXSCORE)
March 27, at Urbana
Urbana breezed past the Lady Jackets 8-0 and 10-2 in a non-conference doubleheader. The Mid-Ohio Conference members will play their league twinbill at Cedarville on April 11. The Jackets managed just one hit in the first game which was halted after six innings due to the eight-run rule. Becky Summers' single broke up the no-hitter in the sixth inning. (GAME 1 BOXSCORE) Game two lasted only five innings because of the run rule. Michelle VanLier was 2-for-2 for Cedarville with a double and a run scored. (GAME 2 BOXSCORE)
March 25, at Ohio Dominican
The Jackets began Mid-Ohio Conference play with an 8-7 loss at Ohio Dominican. The host Panthers jumped out to a 5-1 lead before Cedarville came back to tie at 5-5 and later at 6-6. ODC took the lead for good in the fifth inning and added an unearned insurance run in the sixth. Melissa Sprankle was 3-for-3 at the plate for the Jackets. Erika Miller was 2-for-4 with a double and 3 RBI. Lara Gyurik and Christine Olbrich added two hits each. BOXSCORE On April 17, the NAIA awarded a forfeit victory to ODC concerning the scheduled second game of the DH. They ruled that Cedarville did not comply with a rescheduled date of April 4 to complete the contest. ODC held an 8-0 lead after two innings when the game was suspended due to darkness.
March 22, Belhaven (at Mobile, AL)
The Lady Jackets avenged their season-opening loss from the day before with a convincing 9-1 win over Belhaven thus handing first-year head coach Dave Gaffner his first victory. Lara Gyurik was the hitting and pitching star by going 3-for-4 at the plate with a run scored and an RBI, plus she allowed one earned run on four hits to garner the victory on the mound. Theresa Olson singled, doubled, and drove in two runs while Bonnie Schaefer and Melissa Sprankle each scored two runs. Cedarville used a six-run second inning to take command. BOXSCORE
March 22, William Carey (at Mobile, AL)
After giving up two runs in the top of the first inning, William Carey took off for an 8-2 victory over Cedarville. The Jackets managed only three hits in the game with Erika Miller registering a triple with a run scored and an RBI. Becky Summers and Bonnie Schaefer had one single each. BOXSCORE
March 21, Huntingdon (at Mobile, AL)
Huntingdon College of Alabama broke a tie game with two runs in the fourth inning and held on for a 5-3 victory in a night game against Cedarville. Erika Miller was 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles, a run scored, and an RBI for the Jackets. BOXSCORE
March 21, Belhaven (at Mobile, AL)
Belhaven struck for four runs after two were out in the bottom of the seventh inning to rally for a 7-5 win in the Lady Jackets season opener. Jennifer Cassidy was 2-for-3 at the plate for Cedarville while Becky Summers walked twice and scored two runs. All five Yellow Jacket runs were unearned. BOXSCORE
