Dr. Don Callan, Athletic Director
Dr. Don Callan is in his 38th year at Cedarville College and his 37th season as the school's athletic director. He oversees a Yellow Jacket program that contains 14 varsity sports and continues his role as Chairman of the Health and Physical Education Department.
Dr. Callan has been regarded as a well-respected leader at all levels of the athletic arena. For his longtime commitment and contribution to athletics in the state of Ohio, he received the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award presented by the Agonis Club in Dayton, Ohio in February, 1996. He is a member of the Halls of Fame at the NAIA, NCCAA, Cedarville College, and Taylor University, his alma mater.
Callan served as Cedarville's head men's basketball coach from 1960 through 1995. He completed his career with eight straight 20-win seasons and a 579-423 record. Callan, who is the founder of the Missionary Internship Service (MIS) at Cedarville College, has coached and lectured in more than a dozen countries around the world.
Callan is a 1955 graduate of Taylor University. He received his master's degree from Ball State University in 1960, and his Ph.D. from The Ohio State University in 1968.
Dr. Callan and his wife, Nedra, reside in Cedarville. They have two married children and four grandchildren.
Beth Callinan, Asst. Women's Basketball Coach
Beth Callinan is in her third year at Cedarville College and her second as a member of the Yellow Jackets coaching staff. She will serve as an assistant women's basketball coach.
Callinan is an adjunct professor in the Health & Physical Education Department. She is a 1988 graduate of Taylor University and she earned her master's degree from Marshall University in 1990.
Callinan has coached at two colleges previously. She was the head women's basketball coach at MacMurray College in Illinois from 1990 through 1992. More recently, she was head women's basketball coach at Grace College in Indiana from 1992 through 1995.
Beth and her husband, Doug, reside in Kettering where he teaches and coaches at Van Buren Middle School. The Callinans are expecting their first child in December.
Jim Clark, Asst. Women's Volleyball Coach; Asst. SID
Jim Clark is in his second year at Cedarville College taking on two part-time responsibilities within the Athletic Department. He is a member of the volleyball coaching staff assisting his wife, Teresa, who is the head coach, plus he will be assisting in the sports information office. He serves full-time as the Admissions Production Coordinator.
Upon graduating from Cedarville College in 1975, Clark lived in Fort Wayne, IN where he accumulated 21 years of business experience in the areas of newspaper publishing, advertising sales, marketing, computer graphics and design, desktop publishing, and journalism.
Clark helped develop and produce game programs and media guides for all levels of athletic teams including the Fort Wayne Komets (IHL hockey), Fort Wayne Fury (CBA basketball), Fort Wayne Flames (ASPL indoor soccer), IUPU-Fort Wayne men's and women's volleyball, and Blackhawk Christian High School. He also was involved in the production of the Regional Radio Sports Network Indiana High School Football and Basketball Preview Magazines.
Jim and his wife, Teresa, reside in Cedarville. The Clarks have two children: Carla, 19, who is a sophomore at Cedarville College, and Jonathan, 17, who is a junior at Cedarville High School.
Teresa Clark, Head Women's Volleyball Coach
Teresa Clark begins her second year as head coach of the Lady Jacket volleyball program. In 1996, she guided Cedarville to a 31-15 record which included a best-ever 16-1 start and an eventual berth in the NCCAA National Tournament and the Mid-Ohio Conference Tournament.
A 1975 graduate of Cedarville College, she spent the previous seven years as girls volleyball coach at Blackhawk Christian High School in Fort Wayne, IN. Clark registered a 78-86 record at Blackhawk, but her last two teams were particularly impressive with a combined 35-11 record. Her 1994 club was 16-6 and finished as Sectional Runner-Up to Snider High School, a perennial power in Indiana high school volleyball. Blackhawk advanced to the Sectional semifinals last fall and finished with a 19-5 mark.
Clark is an Assistant Professor in the Health and Physical Education Department. She earned her master's degree from Indiana University in 1986.
Teresa's husband, Jim, is her assistant coach. The Clarks reside in Cedarville and have two children: Carla, 19, who is a sophomore at Cedarville College, and Jonathan, 17, who is a junior at Cedarville High School.
Bob Duchardt, Head Athletic Trainer
Bob Duchardt enters his ninth year at Cedarville College where he serves as Head Athletic Trainer. His primary responsibility is to oversee the training room operation and the student-trainer clinical program which includes approximately 30 students.
Duchardt started athletic training in 1975 and became certified through the National Athletic Trainers Association in 1978. Prior to coming to Cedarville, he spent eight years as athletic trainer at the Berkshire School, a prep school in Sheffield, MA. In 1988, he was named the Eastern Athletic Trainers Association Scholastic Athletic Trainer of the Year.
Duchardt is a 1965 graduate of Taylor University and he earned his master's degree from Union College in 1971. Bob and his wife, Sharon, reside in Xenia. They have four children and two grandchildren.
Alan Edlund, Head Men's Tennis Coach
Alan Edlund embarks on his fourth season as the Yellow Jacket head men's tennis coach. He has guided the netters to a 22-28 dual match record during his first three years with one runner-up finish in the Mid-Ohio Conference.
Edlund graduated from Cedarville College in 1977 with a Social Science Comprehensive degree. He played for the Jackets from 1972 through 1975 under NAIA Hall of Fame coach Murray Murdoch. Edlund was a four-time All-NAIA District 22 and All-MOC performer mainly playing in the number three singles position. During his playing career, the Yellow Jackets won four NAIA District 22 and MOC championships, plus they advanced to the NAIA National Tournament each year.
Edlund was an assistant coach at Cedarville from 1976 through 1984. He was Murdoch's handpicked successor when the legendary coach stepped down following an illustrious 28-year career.
Edlund has been employed for the past 20 years at Holiday Inn South in Springfield where he has held numerous positions including that of accountant, personnel director, and even general manager. Alan and his wife, Kathy, reside in Cedarville and have five children.
Kathy Freese, Head Women's Basketball Coach
Kathy Freese begins her seventh season as head women's basketball coach at Cedarville College. Her teams have put together an 88-100 record during her previous six years.
Freese guided the Lady Jackets to three straight NCCAA National Tournament appearances from 1994 through 1996. Her 1994-95 squad, which finished with a 20-11 record, was only the second women's basketball team at Cedarville College to win 20 games in a season. Freese was voted Mid-Ohio Conference Coach of the Year following the campaign. She was also the NCCAA District III Coach of the Year in 1993-94 after leading her team to the district championship.
Prior to coming to Cedarville in 1991, Freese spent 20 years at Perrysburg Junior and Senior High Schools in Perrysburg, Ohio. She posted a 243-104 (.700) career record in 17 years as girls basketball coach, and had a 202-45 (.818) slate in 11 seasons as girls volleyball coach. Her 1979 volleyball team won the Ohio Class AA state title. She was one of three charter members inducted into the Perrysburg High School Coaches Hall of Fame in January, 1997.
Freese, who is single and resides in Cedarville, is an Assistant Professor of Physical Education. She is a 1971 graduate of Bowling Green State University and she earned her master's degree from the same school in 1981.
Dr. Evan Hellwig, Sports Medicine Coordinator
Dr. Evan Hellwig is in his ninth year at Cedarville College and serves as the Sports Medicine Coordinator. His duties include being the curriculum director for the Athletic Training major, plus he is the liaison between the athletic department and all allied health professions that Cedarville College works with.
Dr. Hellwig is an Associate Professor in the Health & Physical Education Department. He is a certified athletic trainer through the National Athletic Trainers Association and is a licensed physical therapist. Hellwig is a 1984 graduate of Mankato State University, achieved his Physical Therapy Certificate from the University of Iowa School of Medicine in 1986, and earned his Ph.D. from the University of Virginia in 1992.
Evan and his wife, Kelly, reside in Cedarville with their three children: Chelsie, 6; Jordan, 5; and Deric, 4.
Dr. Pam Johnson, Head Women's Tennis Coach
Dr. Pamela Diehl Johnson has established herself as one of the foremost authorities in NAIA women's tennis. Besides serving as head coach of the Lady Jackets for what will be her 22nd season, she has been a member of the NAIA National Tournament Committee since 1985 and has held the position of National Tournament Director since 1989. In recognition of her oustanding leadership, she was named the 1996-97 NAIA Great Lakes Region Female Athletics Administrator of the Year.
Johnson has guided the Cedarville women's tennis program to a record of 150-82 for a .647 winning percentage. Her teams own seven NAIA District 22 championships, two Mid-Ohio Conference titles, and two Western Buckeye Collegiate Conference crowns. She has taken eight teams to the NAIA National Tournament and has coached 13 NAIA All-America Scholar-Athletes.
Johnson is a Professor in the Health and Physical Education Department and co-authored the book, Physical Fitness and the Christian. She is the Director of Academic Assistance at the college and is also an Executive Committee member of the Greene County Special Olympics.
Johnson is a 1970 graduate of the University of Dayton. She earned her master's degree (1971) and Ph.D. (1974) from The Ohio State University. Pam and her husband, Cliff, who is the Assistant to the President of Cedarville College, reside in Cedarville.
Elaine Keller, Secretary
Elaine Keller begins her fifth year as a secretary in the Health & Physical Education Department. Her main responsibilities focus on the academic areas of the department.
Elaine serves as the receptionist and as secretary to the Department Chair. Among other duties, she works with the Athletic Training accreditation process as needed, and also assists with alumni survey for assessment.
Elaine's husband, Kirk, is the Accreditation Officer for the Greene County Sheriff's Department. The Kellers reside in Cedarville with their three children: Justin, 12; Teresa, 10; and Nathan, 9.
Elvin King, Head Cross Country/Distance Coach
Elvin King has been a part of the Yellow Jacket men's track and cross country programs since coming to Cedarville in 1969, and he started the women's track and cross country programs in 1980. While he continues his head coaching duties in cross country, King resigned as head track coach in 1990 to devote full attention to the distance program.
King has developed an especially powerful women's cross country program. The Lady Jackets are the five-time defending Mid-Ohio Conference champions and they finished in a best-ever tie for fifth place in the country at the 1996 NAIA Nationals after placing seventh the previous year.
King is responsible for developing the National Christian College Athletic Association track championships, and he has served as meet director of the NCCAA cross country championships for 17 of the past 19 years. His men's and women's teams have won a combined 12 NCCAA track and cross country titles including the 1996 women's cross country banner.
King's efforts earned him induction into the Cedarville College Athletic Hall of Fame in 1988 and the NCCAA Hall of Fame in 1993. He has won numerous Coach of the Year Awards in the NCCAA, NAIA District 22, and the Mid-Ohio Conference. He is also past president of the Ohio Intercollegiate Cross Country Association.
King, who is an Associate Professor of Physical Education, is a 1964 graduate of Kent State University. He earned his master's degree from Bowling Green State University in 1967.
Elvin and his wife, Joyce, reside in Cedarville. They have two children and two grandchildren.
Jim Kragel, Head Men's Golf Coach
Jim Kragel begins his fourth season as head coach of the Yellow Jacket men's golf program. A scratch golfer for a number of years, he possesses extensive competitive playing experience at the professional level, plus he previously coached high school golf for three years.
Kragel came to Cedarville in 1994 from Warner Southern College in Florida. While residing in the Sunshine State he played in a number of mini tour events on the Tommy Armour Tour and the Central Florida Tour. He has also competed in several U.S. Open qualifiers.
Kragel is an Assistant Professor of Communication Arts where he teaches broadcasting courses with an emphasis on video and television. He is a 1977 graduate of Mankato State University, and he earned his master's degree from Wheaton College in 1984.
Jim and his wife, Julie, who is an elementary school teacher, reside in Cedarville. The Kragels have two sons: David, 17, and Jonathan, 13.
John McGillivray, Head Men's Soccer Coach
John McGillivray is one of the most well-respected men's soccer coaches in the state of Ohio and the NAIA nationally. He has established a 209-188-26 record in 23 years at the Yellow Jacket helm.
McGillivray and his teams have been recognized for their sportsmanlike behavior. He was presented the first-ever Distinguished Merit Award in 1990 by the Ohio Collegiate Soccer Officials Association. The National Intercollegiate Soccer Officials Association honored him in 1992 with their National Merit Award.
McGillivray has led his teams to eight Mid-Ohio Conference titles, five NCCAA District III banners, three NAIA District 22 championships, and one NAIA Area IV crown which carried with it a trip to the NAIA Nationals in 1974. He has guided his squad to five NCCAA National Tournament appearances, a pair of NCCAA National Runner-Up finishes and he was chosen NCCAA National Coach of the Year in 1981.
McGillivray has served in various areas of NAIA soccer including president of the NAIA Soccer Coaches Association from 1983 through 1985. He continues as Mid-Ohio Conference soccer chairman.
McGillivray, who is an Associate Professor of Physical Education, is a 1970 graduate of Cedarville College, and he earned his master's degree in 1976 from the University of Dayton. John and his wife, Bonnie, reside in Cedarville and have five children and three grandchildren.

Paul Orchard, Head Track & Field Coach
Paul Orchard begins his fifth year at Cedarville College as head track and field coach. He is also an Assistant Professor of Physical Education.
The Yellow Jackets have enjoyed notable success during Orchard's four years at the helm. He has led the Lady Jackets to four straight National Christian College Athletic Association banners, and the men to one Mid-Ohio Conference championship in 1994 as well as three NCCAA runner-up showings.
Orchard is a four-time NCCAA Women's Coach of the Year. He was named Mid-Ohio Conference men's Coach of the Year in 1994 and was women's Coach of the Year in 1996.
Orchard came to Cedarville in 1993 after spending six years at the University of Akron. He served as an assistant coach for the Zips' track and cross country programs plus coordinated all of their recruiting.
Orchard is a 1983 graduate of Taylor University where he competed in track and cross country. He was a graduate assistant at Miami University (Ohio) and earned his master's degree from the school in 1986. Paul and his wife, Wendy, reside in Xenia with their son, Brendan Taylor, who was born August 29, 1996.
Nancy Ranger, Office Manager
Nancy Ranger begins her eighth year in the Health & Physical Education Department where she serves as Office Manager. Her many responsibilities include being the secretary to the Athletic Director and to all of the Yellow Jacket teams.
Nancy's major role is that of coordinating all of the athletic eligibility. She also handles all gifts to the Yellow Jacket Club and supervises registration for the Yellow Jackets Sports Camps during the summer.
Nancy graduated from Cedarville College in 1994 with a degree in Business Communications Technology. She is single and resides in Cedarville.
Jeff Reep, Head Men's Basketball Coach
Jeff Reep enters his third season as head coach of the Yellow Jacket men's basketball program. His two-year record at Cedarville is 30-35 which includes a berth in the 1996 NAIA Great Lakes championship game.
Prior to coming to Cedarville, Reep spent the previous 11 years at New Mexico State University where he held the title of associate head coach. The Aggies qualified for postseason play during his last seven years at the school including NCAA berths from 1990 through 1994.
Reep was an assistant coach for the 1983-84 season at Stetson University in Florida. He was a graduate assistant at Delta State in Mississippi from 1979 through 1981 and served as an assistant coach at the school from 1981 through 1983. He was the junior varsity coach at Cedarville College for the 1978-79 season.
Reep played basketball at Cedarville under Don Callan from 1974 through 1978. He graduated as the Yellow Jackets ninth all-time leading scorer with 1,279 points.
An Associate Professor of Physical Education, Reep is a 1978 graduate of Cedarville College plus he earned his master's degree from Delta State in 1981. Jeff and his wife, Criss, reside in Springfield, Ohio and are the parents of four boys: Ryan, 12; Nathan, 10; Aaron, 8; and Jason, 5. The Reeps are expecting their fifth child in December.
Pete Reese, Assistant Men's Basketball Coach
Pete Reese is in his tenth season as an assistant coach on the Yellow Jacket basketball staff where he is also the recruiting coordinator. Additionally, he is the Director of Athletic Facilities at the college.
Reese was Cedarville's baseball coach from 1989 through 1991. He was named the NAIA District 22 and Mid-Ohio Conference Coach of the Year in 1990 after guiding the Jackets to their first MOC title in 20 years.
From 1965 through 1988, Reese was associated with The Master's College, formerly know as Los Angeles Baptist College. He held numerous positions at the school and his basketball teams won over 200 games during his tenure.
Reese is a 1960 graduate of Cedarville College and he earned his master's degree from Eastern Michigan University. He is regarded as one of the most dominant basketball players to ever play for the Yellow Jackets. He graduated as the school's all-time leading scorer (1,930) and rebounder (1,027).
Pete and his wife, Joyce, reside in Xenia, Ohio. They have two married children and two grandchildren.
Norris Smith, Head Baseball Coach
Norris Smith begins his sixth season at Cedarville College as head baseball coach and as Athletic Facility Coordinator. The Yellow Jackets have posted a 48-101 record during the past five years with one postseason appearance.
Prior to coming to Cedarville, Smith was a Biology teacher at Marion L. Steele High School in Amherst, Ohio from 1966 through 1992. He was head baseball coach during his final 25 years there and established a 292-225 career record. His teams won eight Southwestern Conference championships, one district title, and he was a three-time conference Coach of the Year.
Smith is a 1963 graduate of Cedarville College where he starred in basketball and baseball. He earned his master's degree from Kent State University in 1971. Norris and his wife, Judy, reside in Cedarville. They have two married daughters and three grandchildren.
Roger Swigart, Assistant Men's Soccer Coach
Roger Swigart begins his second season as a member of the men's soccer coaching staff. His many responsibilities at Cedarville include coordinating the Yellow Jackets' recruiting efforts.
Swigart has extensive soccer experience as both a player and coach. He was at Pillsbury College in Minnesota for the 1993 through 1995 campaigns and he was the Comets' head soccer coach his final two seasons there. This past spring he played professionally for the Charlotte Eagles, a USISL team that is also part of Missionary Athletes International.
Swigart is a 1990 graduate of Cedarville College and was a four-year starter for the Yellow Jackets as a midfielder. He was a three-time All-NAIA District 22 and All-Mid-Ohio Conference selection. He totalled 15 goals and 11 assists in his 66-game career despite playing just six matches as a senior due to injury. The Jackets compiled a 40-33-4 record during that timespan, won one MOC Championship, and made an appearance at the 1988 NCCAA National Tournament.
Swigart, who is single and resides in Cedarville, has been heavily involved in missions work the past five years. He did an internship in England in 1995 with Missionary Athletes International.
Dawn Wambold, Assistant Women's Soccer Coach
Dawn Wambold serves as the first assistant coach in the brief history of the women's soccer program. She is a lifelong Cedarville native who first became involved in soccer as a player at the SAY level and continued playing as a teenager as well.
Wambold is a 1996 graduate of Cedarville College with a degree in elementary education. She spent last year as substitute teacher in the West Carrollton and Bellbrook school districts. She was a three-sport prep athlete at Cedarville High School and later played tennis for the Lady Jackets.
Dawn and her husband, John, a 1995 Cedarville College graduate, reside in Cedarville. He holds the position of Director of Community Ministries at the college.
Mark Womack, Sports Information Director
Mark Womack is in his 15th year as sports information director at Cedarville College. He coordinates all information and statistics generated by the 14 Yellow Jacket varsity teams, and he writes and edits the STING, the sports information quarterly from the college.
Womack is in his 16th year of writing and producing Yellow Jacket Sports Update for the CDR Radio Network. He is also the radio play-by-play voice for all Cedarville College men's basketball games.
Womack, who is a 1983 graduate of Cedarville College, is a member of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) and serves as the Administrative Assistant/Publicity Director for the Mid-Ohio Conference. He chairs the NAIA Hall of Fame/Awards Committee and was named NAIA Great Lakes Region Male Athletics Administrator of the Year for 1996-97.
Mark and his wife, Amy, reside in Cedarville with their three daughters: Amber, 12; Aubrey, 10; and Alison, 7.
