May 7-8, at Mid-Ohio Conference Championship
The Yellow Jackets tied for sixth with a 985 total at the two-day, 54-hole event played at the Apple Valley Golf Club in Mount Vernon. Malone College won the team trophy with a 915 total and was followed by Shawnee State (928), Mt. Vernon Nazarene (930), Walsh (968), Tiffin (970), Cedarville (985) and Urbana (985) tied. Russ Toms paced the Yellow Jackets with rounds of 82, 80, and 82 for a 244 total. Other scores came from Matt Dunn at 87-80-80-247, Steve Burchett 83-83-82-248, Troy Page 82-89-82-253, and Joe Mulvaney 83-86-88-257.
April 28, 17th ANNUAL CEDARVILLE COLLEGE INVITATIONAL
Mt. Vernon Nazarene won the 17th Annual Cedarville College Invitatonal at the Country Club of the North in Beavercreek. A 6,900-yard layout, long rough, and a steady 15 mph wind played havoc with the scores. The Cougars totalled a 321 and were followed by defending champion Shawnee State (327), Findlay (328), Tiffin (341), Cedarville (343), and Walsh (346). Matt Dunn paced the Yellow Jackets with an 80 while Troy Page had an 81, Joe Mulvaney (86), Steve Burchett 96, and Russ Toms withdrew. [SEE COMPLETE TOURNAMENT RESULTS]
April 24-25, at Mt. Vernon Nazarene Invitational
The Yellow Jackets finished seventh out of nine schools at the Mt. Vernon Nazarene Invitational with a 658 total for the 36 holes. Malone College won the event with a 602 total while Shawnee State (622) and host MVNC (624) rounded out the top three. Matt Dunn paced Cedarville at 80-79-159. Other scores for the Jackets were Joe Mulvaney (85-79-169), Steve Burchett (82-86-168), Russ Toms (88-81-169), and Troy Page (87-85-172).
April 20, at Walsh Invitational
The Yellow Jackets tied for sixth place at the Walsh Invitational as Mt. Vernon Nazarene won the 18-hole event with a 305 total. Rounding out the top six finishers were Malone (308), Edinboro (319), Tiffin (323), Cedarville (324), and Urbana (324). The Jackets were paced by freshman Russ Toms who carded a 77. Others scoring for Cedarville were Matt Dunn (80), Troy Page (82), Joe Mulvaney (85), and Joel Schenk (91).
April 13, at Heidelberg/Tiffin Classic
The Yellow Jackets put together a 344 total to place 9th out of 12 teams at the Heidelberg/Tiffin Classic. Wooster won the event at 313 with Mt. Vernon Nazarene (318) and Shawnee State (319) rounding out the top three. Freshman Rusty Toms made his spring debut with a 78 to tie for 4th place individually -- three shots behind the medalist. Other scores for Cedarville were Matt Dunn (88), Steve Burchett (88), Joel Schenk (90), and Troy Page (95).
April 6, at Shawnee State Invitational
Cedarville finished 7th out of 10 teams at the Shawnee State University Invitational with a 348 total. Findlay (308) nipped the host Bears (309) for the team title. Matt Dunn paced the Yellow Jackets with an 82 which tied for 19th overall. Also scoring for Cedarville were Joel Schenk (86), Joe Mulvaney (90), Troy Page (90), and Steve Burchett (91).
April 2, at Urbana Invitational
The Yellow Jackets opened the season by placing 5th out of 13 schools at the Urbana Invitational. Shawnee State won the event with a 303 total with Mt. Vernon Nazarene (317), Walsh (324), Heidelberg (327), and Cedarville (331) rounding out the top five. Jacket freshman Matt Dunn tied for third place individually with a 77. Other scores for Cedarville were rookie Joe Mulvaney (84), Steve Burchett (85), Joel Schenk (85), and Troy Page (85).
