Season Outlook
There's a new varsity sport on the Cedarville College campus and they can't wait to get started. The long awaited inaugural edition of Lady Jacket soccer is finally in place as the school's 14 intercollegiate program.
"All of the players brought with them an enthusiasm into camp that is refreshing," remarked head coach Dave Dillon. "They have given us a tremendous effort without complaint. Everyone is excited to be a part of this first season."
Women's soccer at Cedarville College did not develop overnight. As long as three years ago, a group of women gathered on campus to play among themselves with the foresight of seeing a varsity program come to fruition. Last year, the Lady Jackets fielded a varsity squad before it attained full varsity status for 1997.
"Our primary goals in beginning our program is to construct a solid foundation and establish some benchmarks upon which we can build," Dillon explained. "We obviously want the players to develop and have an understanding of the college game. We will constantly be assessing our progress and move on."

Dillon will look to the leadership of the team's three captains to set the example both on and off the field. The responsibility has been awarded to senior midfielder Meredith Allgrim, junior back Lisa Thompson, and junior midfielder Michelle Miller.
Fourteen matches dot the schedule which includes some established programs. Wilmington is ranked in the NCAA Division III Top 25 while Indiana Wesleyan is the defending NCCAA National Champion.
The Lady Jackets will play as an independent within the NAIA Great Lakes Region this season. They'll begin Mid-Ohio Conference play in 1998 along with current members Malone, Tiffin, and Walsh as well as incoming members Geneva PA, St. Vincent PA, and Notre Dame College of Ohio.
