May 1, TAYLOR
Cedarville ended the 1999 softball season at 9-29 after splitting a non-conference doubleheader with Taylor. The host Yellow Jackets won the opener, 6-1, but the Trojans cruised to a 13-5 victory in the second game. Noella Fisher's three-run homer in the first contest staked Cedarville to a 5-0 lead through two innings. She went 3-for-3 overall as did Beth Weaver whose effort included a double. Jill Butz was 2-for-3 with a double and Robyn Pitman got the victory on the mound. [GAME 1 BOXSCORE] Taylor exploded for nine runs in the third inning to take command of the second game. Becky Kozlowski became just the fourth player in the 15-year Lady Jacket fast-pitch softball history to hit a grand slam when she homered in the fifth inning. April 28, at Malone
Malone took a pair of American Mideast Conference decisions from Cedarville, 11-3 and 14-3. Becky Summers was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI's in the opener. [GAME 1 BOXSCORE] In the second game she was 2-for-2 with a double and two more RBI's. Jill Butz and Elissa Morrison also added a couple of hits apiece. [GAME 2 BOXSCORE]
April 27, NOTRE DAME COLLEGE
Cedarville swept an American Mideast Conference doubleheader from Notre Dame College, 8-4 and 10-5. Becky Summers went 2-for-3 in the opener with a double and three runs scored. Jill Butz, Debbie Krick, and Robyn Pitman, who was the winning pitcher, added two hits each. [GAME 1 BOXSCORE] Becky Kozlowski was the hitting star in game two going 3-for-3 with two runs scored and two RBI's. Butz was 3-for-4 with two RBI's while Summers and Bonnie Schaefer had two hits each. [GAME 2 BOXSCORE]
April 26, GENEVA
Cedarville rallied for an 8-7 victory in eight innings over Geneva in the first game of their American Mideast Conference doubleheader. The Golden Tornadoes blanked the hosts in the second game, 8-0. The Jackets trailed 6-2 heading to the bottom of the sixth inning of the opener, but plated five runs in the frame. After Geneva tied the game in the seventh, Cedarville won it in the first extra frame. Beth Weaver led off with a double and scored when Noella Fisher reached on an error. Becky Summers had three hits, two of which were doubles, and three RBI's in the win. April 24, Grace (NCCAA Midwest Regional)
Grace scored five runs in the first inning and then held on for a 6-4 victory over Cedarville in the opening round of the NCCAA Midwest Regional at Concordia College in Michigan. The five-team event was single-elimination play after rain postponed the first day of what was scheduled to be a double-elimination tournament. Becky Kozlowski, who had two hits, was voted to the all-tournament team and Elissa Morrison scored three runs for Cedarville. [GAME BOXSCORE]
April 22, SHAWNEE STATE
Seven-time defending conference champion Shawnee State posted 6-2 and 9-0 victories at Cedarville in American Mideast Conference action. The Bears never trailed in the opener. Deb Krick had two hits including a double for Cedarville. [GAME 1 BOXSCORE] The Yellow Jackets were completely shut down in the nightcap as they did not have a runner reach base. The contest was halted after five innings due to the eight-run mercy rule. It was Cedarville's eighth straight loss. [GAME 2 BOXSCORE]
April 20, WALSH
Walsh strengthened its hold on first place in the American Mideast Conference with 9-0 and 9-5 victories at Cedarville. Becky Kozlowski went 2-for-2 at the plate in the first game that was halted after six innings due to the eight-run mercy rule. [GAME 1 BOXSCORE] The Cavaliers then bolted to a 7-0 lead to take command of game two. Bonnie Schaefer, Deb Krick, and Becky Summers recorded two hits apiece for the Jackets. [GAME 2 BOXSCORE]
April 13, at Wittenberg
Wittenberg swept a non-conference doubleheader from the Lady Jackets, 2-1 and 4-1. Cedarville managed just eight hits total for the two games. The Jackets broke a scoreless tie in the opener when they pushed across a run in the seventh inning. Noella Fisher walked with two outs and the bases loaded to score Becky Summers. Wittenberg rallied for two unearned runs in their half with the help of a walk and an error. [GAME 1 BOXSCORE] Cedarville led 1-0 early in game two, but the Tigers scored once in the second inning and then put the game away with three runs in the fourth. [GAME 2 BOXSCORE]
April 10, at Tiffin
Tiffin ended the Lady Jackets three-game winning streak by sweeping an American Mideast Conference doubleheader, 3-2 in nine innings, and 9-3. Becky Kozlowski singled home Becky Summers in the seventh inning of the opener to send the game into extra innings, but TU prevailed in the ninth. Robyn Pitman pitched 8 2/3 innings and five Cedarville errors led to three unearned runs. [GAME 1 BOXSCORE] The Jackets jumped out to a 2-0 lead in game two but committed five more errors in the field. Sarah Bishop and Deb Krick had two hits each. [GAME 2 BOXSCORE]
April 7, at Saint Vincent
The Lady Jackets extended their winning streak to three straight games after sweeping an American Mideast Conference doubleheader at Saint Vincent, 11-1 and 18-9. The Jackets took advantage of 13 Bearcat walks and three errors to cruise in the opener. Becky Summers singled, doubled, and scored three runs while Sarah Bishop had two hits with three runs scored. Robyn Pitman pitched the victory. [GAME 1 BOXSCORE] An 11-run uprising in the first inning of the second game propelled the visitors to the win. Summers and Bonnie Schaefer had two hits each while Anna Bolser got the win on the mound. [GAME 2 BOXSCORE]
April 6, RIO GRANDE
Cedarville split an American Mideast Conference doubleheader with Rio Grande by losing the opener, 11-7, and rallying to win game two, 6-5. A five-run fifth inning in the first game brought the Jackets within 8-7 but they could not hold on. Jill Butz, Debbie Krick, and Becky Summers had two hits each. [GAME 1 BOXSCORE] Cedarville trailed 5-2 heading to their final at bat in the nightcap and they rallied for four runs without having a batter retired. Butz had the game-tying single and Bonnie Schaefer following with the game winner which was one of her three hits in the game. [GAME 2 BOXSCORE]
April 3, OHIO DOMINICAN
Cedarville opened their new home field on campus by losing an American Mideast Conference doubleheader to Ohio Dominican, 11-8 and 10-2. The Jackets let a 5-3 lead after three innings of the opener slip by. ODC broke an 8-8 tie with three runs in the seventh inning to win it. Debbie Krick singled, doubled, and drove in five runs for Cedarville. [GAME 1 BOXSCORE] A five-run second inning staked the Panthers to a commanding 6-1 lead in the second game. April 1, at Mount Vernon Nazarene
The Lady Jackets split an American Mideast Conference doubleheader at Mount Vernon Nazarene. The Cougars took the opener, 4-1, and Cedarville rallied to win the second game, 4-3. The Jackets scored an unearned run in their initial at bat of the first game. However, they mustered just three hits for the game and struck out nine times. [GAME 1 BOXSCORE] Cedarville trailed 2-1 heading to the seventh inning of the nightcap before bouncing back. Jill Butz singled home Beth Weaver to tie the game, and Bonnie Schaefer delivered a two-out two-run single with Noella Fisher and Butz scoring. March 30, at Urbana
Urbana swept an American Mideast Conference doubleheader from the Jackets, 8-5 and 10-9. Cedarville trailed 6-1 in the opener before coming back. Jill Butz went 3-for-4 while Sarah Bishop and Bonnie Schaefer added two hits each. [GAME 1 BOXSCORE] The second game was called after six innings due to darkness after Urbana scored three times to take the lead. The Yellow Jackets had scored eight unanswered runs after falling into a 7-1 hole. Butz, Becky Summers, and Beth Weaver had two hits each. [GAME 2 BOXSCORE]
March 27, at Mount St. Joseph
The Lady Jackets lost a non-conference twinbill at Mount St. Joseph by scores of 12-0 and 8-7. Jill Butz had two of the team's four hits in the opener, however, seven errors led to seven unearned runs by the Lions. [GAME 1 BOXSCORE] MSJ used a six-run fourth inning to recover from a 4-2 deficit in the second game, but the Jackets rallied for three runs in their final at bat and had runners at second and third when the game ended. March 20, Lagrange (Mobile Invitational)
The Lady Jackets picked up their first win of the season with a 4-1 victory over Lagrange in the Mobile Invitational. Robyn Pitman singled home two runs and pitched the final inning to get the save in relief of winner Anna Bolser. Jill Butz had two hits with an RBI, and Noella Fisher drove in a run on a sacrifice fly. [GAME BOXSCORE]
March 20, Houston Baptist (Mobile Invitational)
NAIA No. 9 Houston Baptist beat Cedarville 9-1 in tournament play of the Mobile Invitational. A six-run third inning broke the game open for the winners. The Jackets got on the board first when Becky Kozlowski homered in the top of the first inning. Debbie Krick had two hits while Bonnie Schaefer and Jill Butz also singled. [GAME BOXSCORE]
March 19, Faulkner (Mobile Invitational)
The Jackets absorbed their sixth shutout in seven games with an 8-0 loss to NAIA No. 18 Faulkner to complete pool play in the Mobile Invitational. Bonnie Schaefer singled twice and Jill Butz added another for Cedarville who had just one runner reach second base. [GAME BOXSCORE]
March 19, at Mobile (Mobile Invitational)
Mobile, ranked No. 3 in the NAIA, cruised to a 9-0 win in pool play of their own invitational. Jill Butz had two hits for the Yellow Jackets while Sarah Bishop and Becky Summers also singled. [GAME BOXSCORE]
March 19, Houston Baptist (Mobile Invitational)
The Jackets opened pool play in the Mobile Invitational with a 7-0 loss to Houston Baptist, who is ranked No. 9 in the NAIA. Cedarville had singles from five separate players, but did not get a runner past second base. [GAME BOXSCORE]
March 17, at Faulkner
Faulkner, ranked No. 18 nationally in the NAIA, romped to 8-0 and 9-1 wins over the Lady Jackets. Cedarville got first inning singles from Robyn Pitman and Sarah Bishop for their only hits in the first game. March 15, at Athens State
Cedarville opened the season at Athens State, who is ranked No. 10 in the NAIA, with 5-0 and 8-0 losses. The Jackets got three singles in the opener. [GAME 1 BOXSCORE] They managed only a single from Debbie Krick in the second game and had three baserunners total. [GAME 2 BOXSCORE]
