Dr. Alan Geist was appointed to the position of Associate Athletic Director at Cedarville University in December, 2006. He continues his faculty position in Sport Management within the Exercise and Sport Science Department while assuming responsibility for several specific areas on behalf of Athletic Director Pete Reese as part of his faculty load.
The primary areas of focus for Dr. Geist are athletic eligibility and summer sport camps. In addition, he oversees the athletic department's annual golf tournament fund raiser, assists as a liaison between coaches and athletic staff and the athletic director, serves on various department committees as appropriate, and assists Reese in developing policies and procedures as needed.
Dr. Geist serves as Program Coordinator and Assistant Professor for the Cedarville University Sport Management Program. He earned his B.A. in English Education from Cedarville College (1983), his M.S. in Sport Management from the United States Sports Academy (1989), and his Ph.D. in Sport Management from The Ohio State University (2001). He has been a faculty member in Cedarville's Sport Management Program since its inception, becoming full-time in 2005.
Before returning to Cedarville, Dr. Geist served as a teacher and administrator at both the high school and college levels, including a number of years in athletic administration at each level. He is a member of the North American Society for Sport Management (NASSM). Alan and his wife, Lynn, have two sons, William and Ryan, and they reside in Springfield.
