Joyce King has been closely associated with the Cedarville University cross country program ever since her husband, Elvin, began coaching the men in 1969 and she was there when he started the women's program in 1979. She is in her fourth season as assistant women's cross country coach.

King, who retired in 2001 after serving 32 years on staff at Cedarville University, has served in various capacities within the athletics department since 1971. She has long been involved in cross country and track meet administration, especially when CU hosts the NCCAA Nationals in both sports, and she is one of the school's basketball statisticians.

Joyce joined her husband in the Cedarville University Athletic Hall of Fame in 2003 for her meritorious service to Yellow Jacket athletics. Elvin was inducted in 1988 and they are the first husband-wife team to be so honored with induction.
