Phil Scott is his fourth season as a member of the Yellow Jacket track & field staff as an assistant coach who will focus on the hurdles and javelin. Prior to coming to Cedarville, he spent seven seasons coaching cross country and track & field at Dayton Christian High School. He also coached the Crusaders for Christ summer track program for ten years.

Scott is a graduate of nearby Beavercreek High School where he participated in football, wrestling, cross country, and track & field. He is a former Ohio AAU decathlon champion, indoor national pentathlon champion, national junior pentathlon title holder, and was a California Junior College champion. Scott, who is a 1977 graduate of the University of Cincinnati, was also an Olympic Trials qualifier.

Phil and his wife, Debra, reside in Clayton and have two children: a daughter, Angela Franz, resides in Huber Heights, Ohio with her husband, Matt, and their son, Noah, 13 months. The Scotts also have a son, Jason, who is a 2007 graduate of Cedarville University, was a three-time NAIA pole vault champion, and is currently an assistant coach with the Yellow Jackets.
