Nov. 4, 2000 -- Indiana Wesleyan d. Christian Heritage 15-6, 14-16, 15-13, 15-11 (championship)
Top seed Indiana Wesleyan dethroned defending champion Christian Heritage 15-6, 14-16, 15-13, 15-11 to win their first NCCAA title in 15 years. Tiah Romagnoli hammered 22 kills with five blocks to lead the Wildcats, 41-2 and ranked No. 13 in the NAIA. Lacey Ellis had 15 kills with five blocks, Sarah McCurdy added 13 kills, and Gina Proffitt had 62 assists. NCCAA Player of the Year and Tournament MVP Heather Davis pounded 24 kills for Christian Heritage, 15-17, whose membership in the Golden State Athletic Conference includes five NAIA Top 25 teams. Emily Hethcock had 20 kills with 18 digs, Joy Leichtfuss tallied 16 kills, and Leah Mallinger set up 75 assists.

Defending champion Christian Heritage put away Grace in three games in the NCCAA semifinals. Heather Davis pounded 19 kills and served up five aces for the Hawks, 15-16. Emily Hethcock tallied 13 kills with 20 digs, Brianne Goodyear had 12 kills with 10 digs, and Leah Mallinger handed out 49 assists for CHC. Kate Millen led Grace's attack with 19 kills. Tricia Doyle had 10 kills with 10 digs and Jessica Zaugg came up with 30 assists for the Lancers, 25-17.

Lacey Ellis had 24 kills with seven blocks and Sarah McCurdy added 21 kills with 20 digs to lead top seed Indiana Wesleyan to a 15-10, 13-15, 15-8, 15-11 win over Mount Vernon Nazarene in the NCCAA semifinals. Gina Proffitt had 72 assists and 14 digs while Tiah Romagnoli recorded 18 kills and six blocks for the Wildcats, 40-2. Amanda Schumm pounded 22 kills for MVNC, who bows out of the tournament at 32-11. Darcee Hoberg had 15 kills with 29 digs, Scarlett Habrun was good for 23 digs and seven blocks, and Andrea Rudd handed out 54 assists.
Nov. 3, 2000 -- Union d. Tennessee Temple 15-7, 4-15, 15-6, 15-8
No. 5 seed Union defeated No. 9 Tennessee Temple 3-1 in a matchup of teams seeking their first victory in the tournament. Union, in only their third year of volleyball, improved to 32-7 while TTU, making their first appearance in the tournament in 17 years, is 29-7.

No. 6 Mount Vernon Nazarene advanced to the semifinals with a 3-1 victory over host and fellow American Mideast Conference member Cedarville. Amanda Schumm pounded 32 kills with 20 digs for MVNC, 32-10, with 19 more from Jessica Harding and 17 from Darcee Hoberg to go along with 34 digs. Andrea Rudd added 79 assists. Heather van der Aa buried 29 kills and Amy Martin tallied 23 for Cedarville, 27-11. Lori Bunger supplied 68 assists and 24 digs with LaChelle Peters adding 16 digs.

Defending champion and #3 seed Christian Heritage secured a spot in the semifinals by finishing 4-0 in pool play following a sweep of #2 Olivet Nazarene. Heather Davis with 14 kills and Brianne Goodyear with 10 paced the attack for the Hawks, 14-16. Leah Mallinger aided the cause with 39 assists and 13 digs. Erin Ouwenga had eight kills and eight digs for ONU, 30-11. Julie Leman had 17 assists while Sara Pohl turned away six blocks.

Top seed Indiana Wesleyan finished 4-0 in pool play with a three-game sweep of #4 Malone. The Wildcats' balanced attack featured Sarah McCurdy with 15 kills and 16 digs while Tiah Romagnoli and Sarah Tinkel added 14 kills each. Gina Proffitt recorded 53 assists for IWU, 39-2. Kelly Watt had 10 kills and Nicole Jackson tallied 34 assists for Malone, 26-12. Terri Bell registered 13 digs and Erin McAlarney 11.

No. 6 seed Mount Vernon Nazarene won its second straight match by sweeping #7 MidAmerica Nazarene. Carrie McCleland ripped 15 kills and Darcee Hoberg drilled 14 for the Cougars, 31-10. Andrea Rudd supplied 42 assists with 14 digs, Scarlett Habrun turned down seven blocks, and Amanda Schumm had 19 digs. Mindy Urie had 12 kills while Heather Ponches recorded 36 assists for MidAmerica Nazarene, who bows out of the tournament 22-15 overall. Sarah Peterson had 18 digs and Kaylea Massie added 16.

No. 8 seed Grace completed pool play with a 3-1 record after outlasting No. 5 Union. Kate Millen posted 27 kills and 16 blocks to lead the Lancers at the net. Jessica Zaugg dished out 74 assists, Mandy Ringhand had 18 kills with 24 digs while Tricia Doyle tallied 14 kills with 23 digs for Grace, 25-16. Union, 31-7, remained winless in three tournament matches.

Heather van der Aa recorded 12 kills for Cedarville, 27-10, Lori Bunger had 19 assists coupled with 13 digs, and Amy Martin turned down five blocks.

No. 4 seed Malone nearly blew a 2-0 lead before recovering to beat No. 9 Tennessee Temple. The lower-seeded Crusaders, 29-6, bolted to a 9-0 lead in the fifth game before the Pioneers stormed back. Kim Slone and Megan Evans drilled 16 kills each for Malone, 26-11. Kelly Watt added 14 kills, Nicole Jackson set up 56 assists, and Terri Bell had 16 digs.

No. 7 seed MidAmerica Nazarene rallied from a 2-1 deficit to hand No. 2 Olivet Nazarene their second straight loss. Heather Punches handed out 53 assists to lead the way for the Pioneers, 22-14, while Mindy Urie pounded 10 kills. Kaylea Massie had 22 digs and Sarah Peterson added 17. Lauren Miller's 23 kills and 15 digs led ONU, 30-10. Ivana Fabryova totaled 17 kills and 16 digs, Caryn Boer put away 16 kills, Julie Leman tallied 15 digs, and Sara Pohl was credited with seven blocks.

Sarah McCurdy tied the NCCAA tournament record with 29 kills to lead #1 seed Indiana Wesleyan to a marathon win over fellow Mid-Central Conference member #8 Grace. The Lancers, one of only two teams to beat IWU this season, stormed back from an 0-2 deficit including a rally from a 14-8 hole in the fourth game. Gina Proffitt had 65 assists and 15 digs for the winning Wildcats, 38-2. Sarah Reames buried 14 kills, Sarah Tinkel tallied 15 digs, and Lacey Ellis turned away 11 blocks. Kate Millen recorded 19 kills and nine blocks for Grace, 24-16. Tricia Doyle had 15 kills and 21 digs, Kelli Irish racked up 23 digs, and Jessica Zaugg had 70 assists.

Top-seeded Indiana Wesleyan made another strong showing by sweeping #5 Union. Sarah McCurdy had 11 kills to lead a balanced attack for the Wildcats, 37-2. Tiah Romagnoli had nine kills, Gina Proffitt dealt out 35 assists, Lacey Ellis turned down 11 blocks, and Sarah Tinkel had 11 digs. Union, 31-6, dropped its second straight match after entering the tournament with an 11-match winning streak.

Host and #10 seed Cedarville recovered from a first-game blowout to defeat #7 MidAmerica Nazarene. Amy Martin pounded 15 kills, Heather van der Aa had 14, and Julie Rhoads added 12 for the Yellow Jackets, 27-9. Lori Bunger tallied 42 assists, Chrissie Fretts had 15 digs, and van der Aa contributed six blocks. Mindy Urie hammered home 17 kills and Janee Fletcher had 14 for MidAmerica Nazarene, 21-14. Heather Ponches racked up 45 assists and Kaylea Massie tallied 15 digs.

Mount Vernon Nazarene rebounded from an opening loss with a 3-1 win over #2 Olivet Nazarene. Amanda Schumm recorded 13 kills and Darcee Hoberg had 11 for the #6 Cougars, 30-10. Andrea Rudd supplied 37 assists, Hoberg and Dee Stayman came up with 14 digs each, and Schumm served up five aces. Ivana Fabryova pounded a match-high 17 kills with 18 digs for ONU, 30-9, while Lauren Miller added 14 kills and 17 digs. Julie Leman had 42 assists for the Tigers.

No. 8 Grace finished its opening day with two wins after sweeping No. 9 Tennessee Temple. Tricia Doyle buried 13 kills while Kate Millen and Jamie Gill added 10 each for the Lancers, 24-15. Doyle also supplied 10 digs with three service aces and Jessica Zaugg handed out 36 assists. TTU falls to 29-5.

Sarah McCurdy tallied 12 kills with 12 digs for the Wildcats, 36-2 and ranked #13 in the NAIA. Gina Proffitt had 24 assists while Sarah Tinkel added 13 digs. Adrianna Chinchilla ripped 14 kills for TTU, 29-4. Kathleen McKinny handed out 24 assists and Sheryl Yoder came up with 24 digs.

Olivet Nazarene began its tournament stay as the #2 seed with a win over host Cedarville. Lauren Miller pounded 24 kills to pace the Tigers, 30-8. Julie Leman registered 49 assists and 18 digs, Ivana Fabryova had 17 digs, and Sara Pohl turned back 12 blocks. Heather van der Aa ripped 17 kills for Cedarville, 26-9, while Jennifer Tetrick added 11. Lori Bunger racked up 36 assists and 15 digs with 14 more digs coming from LaChelle Peters.
