Cedarville, Northwest Nazarene claim NCCAA cross country banners
CEDARVILLE, Ohio (11-10-2001) -- Host Cedarville University won the women's division and Northwest Nazarene University captured the men's title at the NCCAA Cross Country Championships.

Cedarville, ranked No. 2 in the NAIA, won their fourth NCCAA women's banner and their first since 1996. The Yellow Jackets totaled 38 points while Malone was 2nd with 63 points and defending champion Spring Arbor was 3rd with 110.

Cedarville's Erin Nehus was the individual winner by covering the 5,000 meters in 18:19. A total of 22 teams took part in the 21st annual women's race.

Northwest Nazarene, rated No. 5 in the NAIA, ended No. 4 Malone's three-run as NCCAA men's champion by recording 33 points while the runner-up Pioneers had 43. MidAmerica Nazarene was 3rd with 94 points in the 29th annual race that included 20 teams.

Malone's Daniel Kibungei was the men's champion. He had a time of 24:22 for the 8,000 meters.

In women's Division II, Baptist Bible was the team champion while Michelle Beichley of North Central was the individual winner in 20:31. Northland Baptist was the men's Division II champion with individual honors going to Blake Johnson of North Central with a time of 27:10.
