CEDARVILLE, Ohio - The Cedarville University women's soccer team recently partnered with the Hillside Chapel in Beavercreek, Ohio for a soccer clinic directed to boys and girls from kindergarten thru fifth grade. It was the third consecutive year for the Lady Jackets to facilitate the clinic which was held this spring on April 10, 2010 and attracted over 60 campers.
The opportunity to minister in a nearby community fits well with the mission of the CU athletic department and specifically the women's soccer team. Players provide enthusiasm, energy and encouragement as they interact with the children. The morning clinic schedule included soccer demonstrations, skill sessions, small group activities and scrimmages for the campers.
The three hour session ended with one of the Lady Jackets sharing her personal testimony followed by a lunch for all players, campers and their parents.
Head coach John McGillivray believes his players benefit in many aspects through their involvement in the clinic and notes it is one of the highlights of the CU spring soccer calendar. The clinic was directed by Marilyn Moore, Director of Children's Ministries at Hillside Chapel, and by Lady Jacket senior, Kelly Wise.
