Cedarville moves on to NCCAA semifinals

MASON, Ohio - The Yellow Jackets split two games to close out pool play and advanced to the NCCAA World Series semifinals for the first time in school history. Cedarville faces Fresno Pacific (Calif.) on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. EDT at Prasco Park.

The other semifinal pits Lee (Tenn.) against Shorter (Ga.) at 2:00 p.m. The winners square off for the championship banner at 5:00.

Cedarville, the #7 seed, clinched its berth in the single-elimination round with a 10-1 win over #10 Lancaster Bible.     Nathan Bancroft ripped four hits and Jordan Adams fanned seven during a complete-game performance that improved his record to 6-3.

The Yellow Jackets came up with 12 hits as a team. Sam Summerlin contributed two hits and two runs while Cam McWilliams added two hits. David Lenhardt and Drew Johnson each scored twice.

Cedarville turned three double plays in winning for the eighth time in ten games.

Lee, the #3 seed, defeated the Yellow Jackets, 9-3, to end up the winner of Pool B. Cedarville struck first when Drew Johnson delivered a two-run ground-rule double in the top of the first inning.

After that, it was all Flames. They scored two in the first and posted back-to-back three-run innings in the second and third for an 8-2 lead.

Summerlin finished with two of the team's six hits. Cedarville is 31-26 overall including a 7-3 record at Prasco Park over the past two weeks.
