Pete Reese is in his 20th year at Cedarville University overall and his 10th year as athletic director where he oversees 14 varsity Yellow Jacket sports. He possesses more than 40 years of athletic administration experience.
Reese previously held the positions of assistant men's basketball coach and Director of Athletic Facilities at Cedarville. Among his many responsibilities, he guided the construction of new complexes for soccer, baseball, softball, track & field, golf, and cross country. The University's Alumni Association recognized Reese for his outstanding contribution as their 2002 recipient of the Distinguished Service Award. He was also honored as the 2005 GeneralSports TURF Systems NAIA Athletic Director of the Year for the Northeast Region.
Reese was Cedarville's head baseball coach from 1989 to 1991. He was named the 1990 NAIA District 22 and Mid-Ohio Conference Coach of the Year after leading the Yellow Jackets to their first MOC title in 20 years and the top seed in the district tournament.
From 1965 to 1988, Reese was associated with The Master's College in California, formerly known as Los Angeles Baptist College. At one time or another he held positions as athletic director, chairman of the physical education department, professor, and coach. For his longtime commitment to the Mustangs athletics program, he was inducted as a charter member of the school's Athletic Hall of Fame in October, 2003.
Reese is a 1960 graduate of Cedarville College and has a master's degree in education from Eastern Michigan University. He established himself as one of the most dominant basketball players to ever play for the Yellow Jackets and he was inducted as a charter member of the Cedarville University Athletic Hall of Fame in 1984. He had his jersey number 43 retired by the Hall of Fame in January, 2005.
Pete and his wife, Joyce, live in Xenia and have two married children. A daughter, Kim Ray, and her husband, Ken, reside in San Jose, Calif. with their two children. Their son Chris, a 1989 Cedarville graduate, is the head boys basketball coach at South Webster (Ohio) High School. He and his wife, Cheryl, have two children.
