The Rapid Fired Pizza Male Athlete of the Week (Feb. 27-Mar. 5) is basketball player Branden Maughmer. The 6-foot-3 senior guard from Chillicothe, Ohio averaged 17.3 points, 5.3 rebounds. 3.3 assists and 2 steals per contest in three games played in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Tournament. Maughmer hit for game-highs 16 points and five assists in a 70-55 quarterfinal win at Ashland on Tuesday, March 1. He fired in a game-high 24 points including the game-winning buzzer beater layup as CU upset Hillsdale 68-66 on Friday, March 4 in North Canton, Ohio. Maughmer tossed in a team-high 12 points as the Yellow Jackets fell 76-62 to the host Walsh Cavaliers in the championship game on Saturday, March 5.
