Dr. Dee Morris

Dr. Dee Morris has been the head coach of the Cedarville University women’s tennis program since the beginning of the 2007 campaign.

She served as an assistant with the Lady Jackets along side Pam Johnson for 30 years beginning in 1977.

Cedarville has posted eight winning seasons under Morris’ leadership including the last five in a row averaging nearly 15 victories per year during that timespan.

The women won the inaugural Great Midwest Athletic Conference title in 2013 and then regained the trophy in 2015. Morris was voted G-MAC Coach of the Year in both championship years.

Cedarville was again recognized as an Intercollegiate Tennis Association All-Academic Team with multiple scholar-athletes. Those types of honors in the classroom have become synonymous with Lady Jacket tennis.

Morris’ 2011 club repeated as an NAIA Scholar-Team. She has coached 31 scholar-athletes during her tenure, one CoSIDA Academic All-American®, one NCCAA Game Plan 4 LIFE Character Award honoree, three conference Players of the Year, and three conference Freshmen of the Year.

Morris coached the Lady Jackets to a share of the 2010 American Mideast Conference championship. More importantly, her squad earned the NAIA Champions of Character Team Award as the only women’s tennis team in the country to be so honored.

Morris is the NCCAA national tennis chair for men and women. She was recognized for her longtime contributions to the association by being inducted into the NCCAA Hall of Fame in 2011.

Morris was a member of the NAIA Women’s Tennis National Tournament Committee and the NAIA Rating Committee from 1989 through 2011. She also formerly chaired the Intercollegiate Tennis Association national rating committee for women’s tennis.

Morris was honored by the Cedarville University Athletic Hall of Fame in 2006 for her faithful contributions to Yellow Jacket athletics. She was presented the first-ever Nedra Callan Meritorious Service Award.

Dr. Morris is a professor in the Department of Kinesiology and Allied Health at Cedarville University. She is a graduate of Geneva College where she was inducted in her alma mater’s Hall of Fame in 2016. She earned her master’s and Ph.D. degrees from Indiana University.
