CEDARVILLE, Ohio - Daniel Rose, who was given a rare starting role on Senior Night, produced 21 points, 11 rebounds, and seven blocked shots to lead NAIA Division II No. 3 Cedarville to a 76-58 victory over American Mideast Conference foe Point Park in the regular season home finale.
It was only the third start of the season for the 6-foot-10 center, but Rose followed up his school-record 11-block performance in the previous game with seven more rejections as well as season-highs for points and rebounds. His 79 blocks are just one shy of the single-season CU mark of 80 set by fellow Jamaican Michael Minto 20 years ago.
The Yellow Jackets, 25-3 overall and 10-1 AMC, scored nine of the last ten points of the first half for a 37-30 edge. A 14-point bulge was trimmed to 61-54 with 7:50 remaining, but a 15-4 run to close the game that featured eight points from Rose accounted for the final.
Matt Harner came off the bench with five three-pointers and 20 points. Chris Beals netted 11 points while Grant Walker added 10 points with a game-high eight assists. [STATS]
