CU Hall of Famer Jeremiah honored at CSUF

FULLERTON, Calif. - Dr. Maryalyce Jeremiah has been granted emeritus status by Cal State Fullerton President Dr. Milton Gordon. She is a 1965 graduate of Cedarville College as well as a former Lady Jacket athlete and coach.

The Titans' former head women's basketball coach (1985-86 thru 1991-92 and 2003-04 thru 2008-09) and senior woman administrator (1992-2002) stepped down from her position as coach at the end of June and was replaced by Marcia Foster.

Emeritus means retaining an honorary title corresponding to the last title held before retirement. For faculty, they have to have been on campus at least 10 years and have been a faculty member in good standing. For staff, the person has usually been on campus for 15-20 years and must have made exemplary service to the University and their department.

The privileges of emeritus status include use of the Emeritus Professors' office in the Pollak Library, a parking permit and continuation of their access to CSUF email address.

Dr. Jeremiah was an athlete at Cedarville College from 1961 through 1965. She has had head basketball coaching positions at her alma mater, the University of Dayton, Indiana University, and Cal State Fullerton.

Jeremiah was inducted as a charter member of the Cedarville University Athletic Hall of Fame in 1984. Her father, the late Dr. James T. Jeremiah, served as president of the institution from 1953-78.
