BEAVER FALLS, Pa. - Geneva netted a pair of second-half goals and blanked the Yellow Jackets for the second consecutive year, 2-0, ending Cedarville's five-match unbeaten streak.
The Golden Tornadoes, 4-2 overall, finally broke a scoreless deadlock in the 61st minute. The hosts added an insurance goal in the 83rd minute.
Geneva missed an opportunity to take the lead earlier. However, Cedarville goalkeeper Kevin Bender stopped a penalty kick midway through the first half.
Geneva held the advantage in shots overall, 13-12, and shots on goal, 9-6. Bender was credited with seven saves.
The Yellow Jackets, 4-2-1, had the better end of the whistles as they were called for 10 fouls compared to 22 for the Golden Tornadoes. Each side was shown one yellow card each. [STATS]
