MOUNT VERNON, Ohio - The Yellow Jackets were recognized as the champion of the Mount Vernon Nazarene Men's Golf Classic after the second and final round of play was washed out by heavy rain.
Cedarville finished the opening 18 holes at the Cherry Hill Golf Course with a 305 total to win by six shots. The host Cougars and Northwestern Ohio tied for the runner-up spot at 311 while Walsh was fourth at 313 and Shawnee State was next at 318.
Chris Bennington carded a 74 to garner runner-up honors. Brigham Michaud and Ben Mounts each turned in a 76, John Stonkus tallied a 79 and Matt Yeiter shot 80.
The "B" squad registered a 314 total with Jacob Nafziger leading the way with a 75 to finish fourth overall. Other scores were Trent Roach, 79; Trayton Ojala, 80; Nick Bigler, 80; and #T.J. Pancake#, 84.
Bennington, Trafziger, Michaud, and Mounts each earned positions on the all-tournament team.
