Cedarville opens NCCAA region play

CEDARVILLE, Ohio - The No. 4 seed Yellow Jackets host No. 5 Cincinnati Christian at noon Saturday in the first round of the NCCAA Men's Soccer Midwest Regional.

It will be the first time since 2012 that the 11-time region champions have played in the NCCAA post-season.

Cedarville enters the match at 11-7-3 while the Eagles are 11-6-1.

It will be the second men's soccer meeting between the two schools. The Jackets posted a 6-2 result over CCU in the 2010 season opener.

Saturday's other opening round match pits #6 Lancaster Bible (Pa.), 10-10, at Grace (Ind.), 7-7-3.

Top seed Indiana Wesleyan, 10-7-2, will host the semifinals on Nov. 18 and the final on Nov. 19 in Marion, Ind.

The CU/CCU winner will face IWU in one semi with #2 Houghton (N.Y.), 11-4-4, taking on the LBC/Grace victor in the other.

The region champion earns an automatic bid to the NCCAA Championship in Kissimmee, Fla. on Nov. 28 through Dec. 3.

Seeding is based on the NAIA Longo Rating system. Cedarville is the lone NCAA Division II member in the tournament. Houghton and Lancaster Bible are members of Division III while Cincinnati Christian, Grace, and Indiana Wesleyan are in the NAIA.
