CEDARVILLE, Ohio -
Jonny Stephens' header early in the second half was all the No. 3 seed Yellow Jackets needed to eliminate No. 6 Findlay, 1-0, in the G-MAC Tournament First Round.
Cedarville, 11-2-6 and winners of four straight, moves on to Roger Glass Stadium in Dayton where No. 2 Ohio Valley awaits for a semifinal contest on Thursday at 5:00 p.m. EST.
Stephens timed
Nick Marculo's corner kick in the 51st minute and sent it high inside the far post for his second goal in three games.
The defense did the rest with
Carter Selvius making three saves while posting his seventh shutout.
The Yellow Jackets outshot the Oilers 13-9 overall and 6-3 on goal. Each side attempted four corner kicks.
Stinger Notes:
- Both teams ricocheted shots off of the post in the second half - UF in the 76th minute and the Yellow Jackets in the 81st.
- It was the first time in 17 years that the Oilers played in Cedarville.
- Both of Stephens' goals this season have been game winners. His OT tally one week earlier beat Kentucky Wesleyan, 2-1.
- The Yellow Jackets lead the all-time series vs. Findlay, 11-6-1.
