COLUMBUS, Ohio - No. 5 seed Walsh started quickly and never trailed in defeating No. 4 Cedarville, 88-71, in the first round of the Atlantic Regional at the Greater Columbus Convention Center.
The Lady Jackets finish the season 19-6 while making their second NCAA Division II Championship appearance.
Senior guard
Ashlyn Huffman wrapped up her stellar career with a season-high 29 points and four assists.
Emily Chapman pumped in 17 points and
Isabelle Bolender added 14.
A 13-point deficit was trimmed to 37-31 by halftime. However, the Cavaliers scored the first ten points of the third quarter to take control.
Stinger Notes:
- All eleven Lady Jackets in uniform played.
- CU's best scoring run was nine points in a row in the second quarter to get within 24-20.
- Huffman completes her career with 1,343 points and 512 assists - fifth on CU's all-time list.
- Fellow senior Stevie Johnting wrapped up her four-year career with 146 triples and 545 total points.
- Cedarville and Walsh are even in their all-time series, 22-22.
