CEDARVILLE, Ohio -
Mauricio Ochoa Vazquez scored late in the first overtime to provide the Yellow Jackets a 1-0 result over Ohio Dominican in the spring season home opener.
The junior forward ripped an eight-yard bullet inside the right post with 31 seconds remaining in the first extra session.
Andre Salviano's cross from the right side was headed down by
Eli Schmidt directly to Vazquez for the winner.
Cedarville, 2-0 overall and 2-0 G-MAC, outshot the Panthers 11-4 overall and 6-0 on goal.
Jared Zacharias was credited with the shutout despite not having to make a save.
Stinger Notes:
- It was the eighth career goal for Vazquez.
- Schmidt recorded his first career point with the assist.
- ODU played a man down for the final 70 minutes.
- The Yellow Jackets are unbeaten (3-0-11) in their last 14 overtime games.
- Cedarville is 23-11-4 against the Panthers in a series that began in 1977.
