PAINESVILLE, Ohio -
Brooke Miller's bunt single scored
McKenna Smith with the winning run in the seventh inning to give Cedarville a 4-3 victory at Lake Erie and a split of their G-MAC doubleheader.
The Storm shut down the Lady Jackets, 2-0, in the first game.
Smith reached on an error to begin the seventh. One out later she stole second and then stole third. Miller followed with her big hit.
Cedarville trailed 3-0 entering the sixth inning, but
Kaley Clark delivered a two-out three-run triple to tie the score.
Adaline Ziehmer, 4-2, went the distance in the circle. She struck out three and allowed two earned runs on six hits.
The Jackets failed to dent the plate in the first game as Lake Erie ended a nine-game losing streak.
Mariah Wallace doubled and had two of the four hits for Cedarville, 16-12 overall and 5-5 G-MAC.
Stinger Notes:
- That makes nine consecutive doubleheaders that the Lady Jackets have split.
- Cedarville had just seven hits total in the twinbill.
- Ziehmer pitched nine innings between the two games and gave up only two earned runs.
- The Lady Jackets are 13-1 in the all-time series against Lake Erie.
- Saturday's non-conference doubleheader at Wayne State was postponed due to COVID protocols within the Warriors' program.
