CEDARVILLE, Ohio - Mountain East Conference power West Virginia State opened its season with a convincing 6-1 win over Cedarville at the Johnson-Murdoch Tennis Complex.
The visitors have won the MEC regular season and/or tournament title in each of the seven years the league has been in existence.
WVSU lost just one game in sweeping the doubles point.
The Lady Jackets got on the board at No. 1 singles when
Abby Totten was credited with the win.
The score was 2-6, 2-1 in the second set when her opponent retired.
