HIGHLIGHTS
CEDARVILLE, Ohio - The Yellow Jackets tallied three goals after the intermission and defeated Malone, 3-1, in a G-MAC contest staged on Senior Day.
Cedarville, 7-5-1 overall and 5-4 G-MAC, continued its move up the conference table with the third win in the last four outings.
Mauricio Ochoa Vazquez tapped in a cross from
Brett Vaughn in the 53rd minute to break up the scoreless game.
Timothy Lee headed in his first of the year five minutes later on assists by
Victor Pomelli and
Coleman Meredith.
Pomelli made it 3-0 when he ripped a 25-yard strike into the upper corner in the 76th minute.
The Pioneers accounted for the final with a goal in the 81st.
Stinger Notes:
- Seniors Pomelli, Vazquez, Gabe Byrd, Matthias Dewhurst, Jake Johnson, Timothy Lee, Jonny Stephens, Brett Vaughn, Andy Volk, and Jared Zacharias were honored before the game.
- Dewhurst made three saves during his first start in goal.
- It was the first time Cedarville had scored more than two goals.
- The hosts had a 19-10 advantage in overall shots, but just 5-4 on goal.
- It was the 60th meeting between the two schools - the most vs. any opponent.
- The Jackets lead the all-time series, 41-13-6.
