CEDARVILLE, Ohio - No. 6 seed Ferris State withstood a furious comeback by the No. 2 Lady Jackets for a 3-1 win in the Midwest Regional second round of the NCAA Division II Women's Soccer Championship.
Cedarville ends the campaign 17-4-1 in setting a single-season record for victories.
The Bulldogs scored midway through the first half and then made it 2-0 in the 81st minute.
The Jackets responded just 41 seconds later when
Mary Kate Wyer drove a ball through traffic that ricocheted off two defenders and into the net.
Aleah Martone had the assist.
Addie Erslan's header less than a minute after that was denied on an incredible save by the FSU keeper.
With the CU defense pressing forward, Ferris accounted for the final on another tally with 1:14 left on the clock.

- Both teams placed six shots on goal and Cedarville attempted more shots overall, 15-12.
- The game was delayed an hour due to an inch of snow earlier in the day.
- Temperature at kickoff was 32 degrees with a wind chill of 24.
- Wyer finished as the team's leading scorer with nine goals and three assists for 21 points.
- The 17 wins eclipsed the previous mark of 16 set by the 2019 NCCAA title squad.
- Ferris State has won both games ever played between the two programs.
