KISSIMMEE, Fla. - No. 5 seed Campbellsville outplayed the No. 2 Yellow Jackets by a 3-1 count to close out pool play in the NCCAA Men's Soccer Championship.
Cedarville ends the season with an overall record of 12-10-2.
The Jackets needed a two-goal victory to win the pool, but conceded the first goal 11 minutes after kickoff.
After the Tigers made it 2-0 early in the second half,
Jake Johnson converted a penalty kick in the 53rd minute to pull one back.
Campbellsville clinched the result with another tally in the 88th minute to win the pool and advance to the semifinals.
Stinger Notes:
- Johnson's PK was his second of the season (Trevecca).
- Campbellsville had the advantage in shots overall, 17-15, as well as on goal, 10-5.
- Goalkeeper Jared Zacharias made seven saves and finished his career fourth all-time at CU with a 0.98 GAA.
- Defender Jonny Stephens finished with school records of 94 games played and 92 starts.
- Game conditions were mostly cloudy and 78 degrees
- Cedarville leads the all-time series vs. the Tigers, 2-1.
