HIGHLIGHTS
CEDARVILLE, Ohio - WBCA Division II No. 1 Ashland shot 63 percent from the field and outscored Cedarville, 107-83, at the Callan Athletic Center.
The Eagles, 26-0 overall and 18-0 G-MAC, made 14-of-17 (.824) shots in the fourth quarter to eventually pull away from a Lady Jacket squad that hung around for two-plus quarters.
All five starters scored in double figures for CU, 7-16 and 5-12 G-MAC.
Lydia Sweeney netted 21 points and got support from
Paige Garr (14),
Kat Weakley (13),
Leah Butterbaugh (12), and
Anne Wheeler (12).
The Jackets played Ashland tight the entire first half and entered the intermission trailing 44-38.
Stinger Notes:
- Garr is averaging 19.5 ppg in the last three games and Sweeney is adding 19.0 ppg.
- Weakley has scored in double figures in five straight outings.
- Wheeler has made her last 15 straight free throws.
- Cedarville is No. 1 in the country in free throw shooting with a .831 accuracy.
- The Jackets, who made 19-of-20, had their streak of consecutive conversions halted at 32 in a row.
- CU is 41-of-44 (.932) at the line in the last three games.
- The 83 points were the second-most allowed by the G-MAC's top defense this year. (88 vs. Truman State)
- Ashland holds a 21-11 edge in the all-time series.
