CEDARVILLE, Ohio -
Jayvon Maughmer and
Jacob Drees both produced double-doubles and the Yellow Jackets withstood a late surge from Lake Erie for a 92-86 G-MAC victory at the Callan Athletic Center.
Maughmer totaled 21 points and ten rebounds while Drees racked up 16 points, 11 boards, nine assists, and three blocks.
Cedarville, 11-5 overall and 6-1 G-MAC, has won four straight.
The Jackets enjoyed a 84-73 lead with two minutes left, but the Storm charged back to get as close as 87-84 with 30 seconds remaining.
CU, ranked No. 6 nationally in free throw accuracy, converted five straight down the stretch to ice it.
Anthony Ruffolo popped in 17 points,
Chris Rogers had 12, and
Timothy Davis and
Grant Whisman added 11 each.
STINGER NOTES:
- Maughmer's career-high ten rebounds gave him his first-ever double-double.
- Drees, who nabbed his third double-double, is averaging 12.0 rpg in the last four games.
- The team's six turnovers matched a season low (Southwest Baptist, Ohio Dominican).
- Davis has five straight games scoring in double figures (15.8 ppg).
- Ruffolo has scored 15 or more points in six of the last seven outings.
- Lake Erie was a perfect 15-for-15 from the line.
- Cedarville swept the two regular season games and leads the all-time series, 15-6.
