SMYRNA, Tenn. - Illinois Springfield and Davenport defeated the Lady Jackets on opening day of the Music City Invitational at Cedar Stone Park.
UIS took the opener, 7-5, after jumping on CU with four runs in the top of the first inning.
The Jackets pulled three back in the third on a two-run triple by
Mariah Wallace and an RBI groundout by
Casey Bertke.
After the Prairie Stars opened up a 6-3 lead, Bertke drilled a two-run homer in the sixth.
Cedarville totaled just three hits with the other a single from
Dana Bertke.
Davenport shut down the Jackets 3-0 in the second contest.
Both teams scattered six hits.
Faith Bergner and
Alayna Griffing stroked two hits apiece for CU, 0-5.
