Cedarville knocks off No. 3 Indianapolis on Opening Day

SMYRNA, Tenn. - The Lady Jackets ended the first day of the Music City Invitational with a 4-2 win over NFCA Division II No. 3 Indianapolis.

Cedarville had lost all 15 previous meetings against the Greyhounds, but this time a four-run third inning was the catalyst.

Mackenzie Lashuay had a sacrifice fly, Ella Leonard smacked a two-run triple, and Camryn Taktak followed with a RBI single.

Winning pitcher Maya Merrill made her collegiate debut by going six innings with three strikeouts for the win.

Freshman Emma Wylie worked the seventh inning to get the save.

Dana Croyts had a pair of hits, stole two bases, and scored a run.

Illinois Springfield defeated Cedarville in the season opener at Cedar Stone Park, 6-2.

Croyts tripled and scored while Taktak drove in another run with a single.
