CEDARVILLE, Ohio — The Cedarville men's tennis team delivered a commanding performance with a 7–0 sweep over Grove City on Saturday afternoon at the Johnson-Murdoch Tennis Complex.
The Yellow Jackets controlled every court in both singles and doubles play to improve to 3–4 on the season.
The Jackets opened the match by sweeping doubles to take the early point.
Alexander Rongos and Pedr o Nogueira posted a 6–2 win at No. 2 doubles, while
Xavier Gee and
Ryan Mecurio matched the score at No. 3. The top duo of
Logan DeHaven and
Roman Issayev sealed the sweep with a 7–6 (7–5) tiebreak win.
Cedarville carried the momentum into singles, winning all six matches in straight sets. Issayev led the charge with a dominant 6–2, 6–0 victory at No. 3.
Roberto Esquivel followed with a 6–1, 6–2 decision at No. 2, while Nogueira cruised 6–1, 6–1 at No. 5. Rongos (6–4, 6–1) and
Austin Corbett (7–5, 6–2) added key wins, and DeHaven closed out the sweep with a 6–3, 7–6 (7–2) triumph at the top spot.
