Lady Jackets close Thanksgiving trip with 67-56 win over Barry

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - Cedarville wrapped up its stay at the Eckerd Thanksgiving Classic with a 67-56 victory over Barry at the McArthur Center.
 
The Lady Jackets used a dominant first half to take control and never trailed, improving to 3-3 on the season.
 
Cedarville built a 19-13 lead after one quarter, extended the margin to 42-24 at halftime, and scored the first five points of the third period for a 23-point bulge.
 
The Buccaneers never folded and crawled back to within five points on two separate occasions late in the game – the last of which was 61-56 with 2:21 left.
 
Cait Behling knocked down a three-pointer and Emma Kay Martin converted a trio of free throws to account for the final.
 
Martin finished with 16 points and six rebounds while Behling totaled 11 points and seven boards.

"I'm really proud of how this team responded today. It was not our prettiest performance, but we battled, stayed together, and found a way to get the win when it mattered most. We're heading back to Ohio to turn our focus to conference play starting Thursday. We're incredibly grateful that we were able to spend a beautiful Thanksgiving down here in Florida."

  • Chloe Downing and Regan Hubert scored nine points apiece.
  • Harmony Laker came off the bench with eight points, five rebounds, three assists, two steals, and a blocked shot.
  • CU's bench tallied 25 points with the team producing 30 points in the paint.
  • Barry didn't attempt a free throw until the third quarter and was held to 32 percent shooting from the field.
  • Cedarville recorded 19 second-chance points on 17 offensive rebounds.
