CEDARVILLE, Ohio – The Lady Jackets stood tall in a game of runs for a 68-65 G-MAC result over Ohio Dominican at the Callan Athletic Center.

Cait Behling scored a season-high 18 points with eight rebounds to lead Cedarville, 5-5 overall and 2-2 G-MAC.

Ella Sellars registered a double-double of 16 points and 11 boards to go along with seven assists and three steals.

ODU held a 43-35 lead midway through the third quarter when the Jackets rattled off 25 unanswered points as part of a 30-1 run covering nearly nine minutes.

That gave Cedarville a 65-44 lead, but the visitors weren't finished. The Panthers responded with 16 straight points and eventually had a couple of three-point attempts in the final seconds that would have sent the game to overtime.

Quotable: Head Coach Addy Miller
"We all know that basketball is a game of runs. We talk to them about it all the time. Can we elongate our runs and can we stop the other team's runs and make it as short as possible? We just stuck with the process. The first half we didn't play very well on both ends of the floor, but we were still in it. I think eight points was the most that they were up.

"In the locker room at halftime the girls still looked like they were not going to lose this game and those were the faces I got in timeouts. They really proved that and propelled forward. Going on a 25-0 run is practically unheard of in college basketball and it was a testament to our defense."

Quotable: Junior guard Cait Behling
"Honestly, we just stayed together as a team even when they went on their runs. We stayed together, we fought back, and we were ready to go whether we were coming off the bench or starting. Rebounding was a huge emphasis for us this week in practice. Crashing hard, giving full effort, being ready to go, and getting the O boards. I think we just took that from practice and brought it to the game today."

Stinger Notes:
  • Cedarville controlled the boards by a 45-30 margin.
  • The Jackets had the upper hand in points in the paint (38-28) and second chance points (13-0).
  • Chloe Downing chipped in nine points and a game-high four steals.
  • CU leads the all-time series, 44-31, which began in the 1971-72 season.
  • The rematch in Columbus, Ohio is set for February 5.
