Jackets fall in G-MAC opener at Thomas More

CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky. - Cedarville had its four-game win streak halted in an 86-78 setback at Thomas More to begin the G-MAC schedule.

Jaylen Davis hit four three-pointers and tallied a game-high 23 points for the Yellow Jackets, 4-3 overall.

Anthony Ruffolo totaled 18 points and three assists while Sam Johnson contributed 13 points.

Cedarville held the lead for just 90 seconds in the contest which came midway through the first half.

With the game tied at 29-29, the Saints answered with nine of the next ten points en route to a 38-33 margin at the intermission.

It remained a single-digit difference throughout most of the second period before TMU pulled away late in pushing the difference to as much as 13 points with a minute left.

Quotable: Head Coach Rob Jones
"A tough road game against an excellent opponent. As much as we battled and kept ourselves in the game we just weren't able to get over the hump and string together enough defensive stops. When we were able to force some misses we couldn't finish the play and gave them too many second chances. Our group will continue to fight for growth in these areas. We look forward to returning home for two important conference games this coming week."

Stinger Notes:
  • Both teams shot 52 percent from the field.
  • Cedarville committed just three turnovers for the second time this season (Illinois Springfield).
  • Thomas More controlled the rebounding battle, 39-20.
  • Davis turned in his second consecutive 20-point effort.
  • The Saints lead the all-time series, 4-3, with the rematch in the Callan Athletic Center on February 7.
