G-MAC STORY
CEDARVILLE, Ohio - Four-time NCAA champion Carsyn Koch Johnson has been selected for induction to the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Hall of Fame.
She will be one of two honorees during the league's spring awards banquet on May 20 in Blue Ash, Ohio near Cincinnati.
Johnson, a native of the small community of Washburn, Maine, came to Cedarville University in 2014 and quickly went from an unknown to U.S. Olympic Trials qualifier.
She was the NCAA Division II National Champion in the indoor 800 meters and outdoor 800 meters in both 2016 and 2017.
Johnson was the national outdoor runner-up as a freshman in 2015 and was ultimately a seven-time NCAA All-American.
She still holds the second-fastest outdoor 800 in Division II history at 2:02.39 as well as the eighth-fastest indoor 800 at 2:05.65.
Johnson's outdoor 800 mark landed her a spot in the 2016 U.S. Olympic Trials in
Her outdoor 1,500 mark of 4:12.19 still ranks No. 5 all-time in Division II history.
Johnson also made her presence felt in cross country and was a two-time USTFCCCA Division II All-Region performer.
She was part of the 2016 squad that was the Midwest Region runner-up and made the program's first-ever appearance and placed 11th overall at the NCAA Division II Cross Country Championship.
Johnson was a two-time G-MAC Female Athlete of the Year and graduated with five indoor and four outdoor school records to her credit.
Carsyn and her husband, Colby, reside in Colorado Springs, Colo. with their two children.
