CEDARVILLE, Ohio -
Anthony Ruffolo pumped in 29 points and
Jaylen Davis added 23 to lead the Yellow Jackets to a convincing 101-82 G-MAC victory against Northwood.
Will Gibson and
Sam Johnson netted 12 points apiece and
Ethan Sellars added 11 for Cedarville, 9-8 overall and 4-5 G-MAC, who improved to 7-2 at the Callan Athletic Center.
The Timberwolves made their first six shots in sprinting to a ten-point lead which dissolved to 47-46 by halftime.
The Jackets came out swinging to begin the second half and a 12-point run forged a 69-55 advantage six minutes in.
Northwood crawled back to within seven on three occasions, but successive layups by Ruffolo, Davis, and
Jordan Jonathan pushed the margin back to 13.
Cedarville shot .645 over the final 20 minutes including a 5-for-10 showing from deep in outscoring the visitors 55-35.
The Jackets committed just six turnovers - one in the second half - while forcing the Timberwolves into 15 miscues.
Stinger Notes:
- The .522 three-point percentage (12-for-23) was a season-high led by Davis' five triples.
- Ruffolo totaled game highs of six assists and three steals without committing a turnover.
- Davis and Gibson contributed five assists apiece.
- Johnson matched his season-high of three blocks.
- Jonathan Whiteside hauled in a team-high seven rebounds.
- The .578 field goal percentage was the second-best this season (.609 vs. Wright State Lake).
- CU was +9 in the turnover department for the second time (at Thomas More).
- The Jackets outscored Northwood in the paint, 46-28.
- Cedarville leads the all-time series, 7-3.
- The two sides meet again in Midland, Mich. on February 14.
