PAINESVILLE, Ohio –
Landon Nates scored the game-winner just 83 seconds after Lake Erie equalized to send Cedarville to a 2-1 G-MAC road victory on Thursday night.
The two sides played through a scoreless opening 45 minutes with Cedarville holding a 4-2 advantage in shots.
Eddie Merck broke the deadlock in the 59th minute for his third goal of the season.
Hayden Hoxie was credited with the assist to help provide a 1-0 advantage.
Lake Erie answered in the 64th minute to level the match, but the Yellow Jackets responded instantly.
Andrew Boythe set up Nates at 64:24 for the deciding goal and a 2-1 lead.
The Storm applied pressure down the stretch, but Cedarville held on to secure its second consecutive G-MAC road victory.
Cedarville finished with seven shots, including two on goal, while Lake Erie totaled nine attempts and four on target. Nates and Merck accounted for the Yellow Jackets' goals with two shots apiece.
Eben Dewhurst went the distance in goal and made three saves to earn the victory.
The Yellow Jackets are 5-5-1 overall and 5-2-0 in G-MAC play. Their next game is Saturday against Kentucky Wesleyan.
