Taylor’s penalty save preserves scoreless draw at Thomas More

CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky. - Anna Taylor stopped a second-half penalty kick as Cedarville battled Thomas More to a 0-0 draw on Thursday at Republic Bank Field.

Taylor denied Andjela Popovic from the penalty spot in the 73rd minute to keep the Saints off the scoreboard. She added a save in the 82nd minute and finished with two stops while going the distance, helping Cedarville extend its school-record shutout streak to 14 consecutive matches.

CU held a 6-2 advantage in shots during the opening half, with Seren Johnson, Maddy McCort, and Alyssa Griner each forcing a save from Saints goalkeeper Emma Yeager.

Katie Ulmer put another attempt on target in the 62nd minute before Taylor's penalty save kept the match level. Griner tested Yeager again in the 87th minute, but neither team could find the breakthrough.

The Lady Jackets finished with a 13-7 advantage in shots, including a 5-2 margin on goal, and earned all three of the match's corner kicks.

Cedarville remained unbeaten in G-MAC play at 9-0-3 and stand 11-1-4 overall. While they have clinched a spot in the G-MAC tournament the final games of the regular season will determine their seed line.

Up next the Lady Jackets will travel to Ursuline on Saturday, October 24.
