Lady Jackets drop close one at Ohio Dominican

Sellars leads all scorers with 16 points

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Cedarville's big fourth quarter came up short in a 58-53 loss to Ohio Dominican at Alumni Hall.

Ella Sellars netted 16 points as the only player to hit double figures for the Jackets, 8-13 overall and 3-10 G-MAC.

Cait Behling and Hannah Mayse both came off the bench with eight points apiece.

The Panthers broke a 6-6 deadlock and never trailed the rest of the way building the lead to as much as 13 early in the fourth quarter.

Cedarville rallied to get within 56-53 on a Behling three-pointer with 42 seconds left. The Jackets regained possession with a chance to tie, but turned the ball over at the 20 second mark.

Quotable: Head Coach Addy Miller
"ODU played with a high level of physicality that we didn't consistently match tonight. We addressed it at halftime and were more physical in the second half, but not consistently enough to get over the hump. When the officials allow the game to be physical - which I prefer - we have to find ways to finish at the rim or get to the free-throw line, and we didn't do that tonight."

Five Facts:
  • Cedarville outrebounded the Panthers by a 39-24 margin.
  • All 11 players to see action pulled down at least one rebound.
  • The Jackets doubled up the Panthers in bench scoring, 26-13.
  • CU has dropped five games by five points or less.
  • The two teams split the season series with Cedarville leading 43-31 all-time.
