Biography
Evan Thayer is a four-year performer and one of the Yellow Jackets’ top distance runners.....earned All-American Mideast Conference First Team honors by placing 5th of 105 in 25:29.....posted a career-best 8K mark of 25:05 at the NAIA Great Lakes Invitational to finish 11th of 313.....CU’s top runner at the NAIA Championship finishing 72nd of 326 in 26:16.....NCCAA champion on the track in the indoor mile and outdoor 1,500 meters.....NCCAA Indoor All-American in the 800 and mile to go along with Outdoor All-America honors in the 1,500 and 4 x 800.....AMC champion in the 1,500 and 4 x 800.....NAIA qualifier in the indoor mile and outdoor 1,500.....NAIA and NCCAA Scholar-Athlete.
2009 - NCCAA individual champion with a season-best time in the 8K of 25:31.....became just the fourth Yellow Jacket to win NCCAA title.....All-AMC First Team performer after finishing 7th in 25:55.....placed 21st of 255 runners at the NAIA Great Lakes Invitational in 26:06.....CU’s #2 runner at the NAIA Championship finishing 76th of 323 in 26:23.....NAIA Indoor All-American on the track in the 1,000 meters placing 4th in a school-record mark of 2:27.38.....NCCAA All-American in the indoor mile and outdoor 1,500 meters.....AMC runner-up in the 1,500.....NAIA outdoor finalist in the 1,500.
2008 - Saw action in all eight varsity meets and placed among the team’s top seven runners on seven occasions.....best time in the 8K was 26:05 in the Cedarville Open to end up 11th overall.....turned in a 26:18 effort at the NAIA Great Lakes Invitational to place 48th of 228.....Jackets’ #5 finisher at the NAIA Nationals in 26:51.....All-AMC honorable mention with a 19th-place showing of 28:05.....NCCAA Indoor All-American on the track as the runner-up in the mile in 4:18.85.....member of 4 x 800 squad that won the AMC title with a school and meet record time of 7:48.02.....qualified for the NAIA Nationals in the indoor mile and outdoor 1,500 meters.....competed in the 1,500 at the USA Junior Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Eugene, OR.
High School - Participated in three seasons of cross country earning two letters at Naperville Central High School.....two-time all-conference choice.....three-year letter winner in four seasons of track.....all-state 4 x 800 meter relay performer as a junior.....four-time state qualifier and three-time all-conference honoree.....member of two-time conference champion 4 x 800 unit.....team captain in both track and cross country.....Illinois State Scholar.....National Honor Society student.
Personal - Dean’s List student as a biology major at Cedarville University.....born 5/15/90 in Toronto, Ontario.....son of Martin and Carolyn Thayer.....father competed in wrestling and football at Wheaton College.....has one older sister, a younger brother, and a younger sister.
