Cedarville University Yellow Jackets

Kara Cayton returns for her final season with the Lady Jacket basketball program.....one of just two seniors on this year’s squad.....averaged a fifth-best 8.4 points per game last winter.....led the team in three-point field goals with 75 while posting a .383 mark from long-range.....ranked third in assists (87) and steals (38)......tossed in a career-high 24 points in a win at NAIA #18 Taylor including six three-pointers.....handed out a new career-high of eight assists in an American Mideast Conference win against Ursuline.

2009-10 - Appeared in all 33 games with one start…..averaged 7.2 points per game…..produced a second-best 74 assists during the campaign…..third on the squad with 44 steals…..drained a second-best 56 field goals from behind the three-point arc…..hit a team-high 20 points - including 6-of-8 from long range - in an early-season win versus Taylor…..scored double digits in nine other contests including 18 markers in an AMC win against Walsh…..handed out a career-high six assists in a non-conference victory at Urbana.

2008-09 - Appeared in 27 games as a rookie.....averaged 6.3 points per game.....drained a third-best 46 three-point field goals.....fourth on the squad with 25 steals.....grabbed 38 rebounds and handed out 41 assists.....hit double figures in eight contests.....tallied a season-high 13 points against Daemen.....recorded a season-high five assists versus Carlow.....member of the 2008-09 American Mideast Conference Freshmen Team.

High School - Produced a three-sport high school career.....earned three letters in basketball at Minford High School.....one-year letter winner at South Webster High School during senior season.....averaged 17.2 points, 4 steals and 4.5 assists per game.....team advanced to the regional semifinals of the state tournament.....helped South Webster capture Southern Ohio Conference DII title, sectional and district championships.....earned SOC First Team and All-District recognition every year of HS career.....All-Ohio Second Team honors as a senior.....two-time all-state honorable mention and one-time special mention.....two-year letter winner in track & field at Minford HS and one-year letter winner at South Webster HS.....three-year performer in soccer at Minford HS.....National Honor Society student.

Personal - Dean’s List student as an organizational communications major at Cedarville University.....born 7/27/89 in Portsmouth, OH.....daughter of Steve and Lisa Cayton.....older brother, Kyle, was a freshman member of the track & field team and a two-year performer for the Yellow Jacket JV basketball squad as a CU student.
