Hi there from the Lady Yellow Jacket softball team! Sadly, this is the last blog of the year. We just finished up our season last Friday at the NCCAA National Tournament. Unfortunately, we did not win Nationals this year.
We came into the tournament seeded #2 behind California Baptist. We came out strong the first day of the tournament by beating Emmanuel (#7 seed) 5-2. But, our second day was not a success. We lost in double elimination to both Campbellsville (3-2 in 8 innings) and Trevecca Nazarene (7-0). These were tough loses and we wish that we could’ve been the National Champions.
Even though this was a tough way to end, our team accomplished a lot during the season. We broke the record of having the most victories for a softball season at Cedarville University coming up with 35 wins and 23 loses! Also, there were a lot of individual records broken as well! This team became so close this year and tight friendships were formed.
Our athletic trainers were also amazing! We always had a fun time with Mike Weller, Niles Rosner, and Becca Williams. This season was so much fun with all of the pranks pulled, jokes told, fun hotel stays, crazy bus rides, and team dinners. The Cedarville University softball team this year was very special and will not be forgotten! I hope everybody has a fun and safe summer!
So long until next season!
Clear eyes, full hearts, can’t lose!!

Hi there! In my blog last week, I told you guys that we were on our way to the Ohio Independent Championship. During our play-in round on Monday (April 30), we run-ruled Malone 9-1 in five innings at Lady Jacket Field! It was a very exciting game!
Then we had a day off on Tuesday and an easy practice on Wednesday. Thursday, we were off to Notre Dame in South Euclid, Ohio. We played Notre Dame in our first game and kept the score tied 1-1 throughout the game. But, they scored a run in the top of the sixth inning and we ended up losing 2-1. Since this tournament was double elimination, we played Walsh right after that. We lost to Walsh 4-0 and we headed home.
Despite these tough losses in the tournament, we are not going to let this define us in our season or Nationals! We are all moved into McKinney Hall and are ready to head to Virginia on Tuesday for NCCAA NATIONALS!! The move was tough because we have so much stuff!! But, we have been having tons of laughs and tons of fun watching movies together and eating out together.
Even though Cedarville is empty and the students are practically gone, we are so excited to be here and to be going to Nationals! We are seeded #2 out of 8 teams in the tournament! We are hoping to be the National Champions!
Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers! Monday night will be a fun night of relaxation before going to Virginia. We will have our annual awards banquet with lots of good food and fellowship! Then Tuesday, off to Nationals!!
Clear eyes, full hearts, can’t lose!

Hello from the Regional Champs!!!!!!!!!!!
Last week was great for the Lady Yellow Jacket softball team! We played the University of Indianapolis, Ursuline College, Spring Arbor University and Indiana Wesleyan University.
The University of Indianapolis was tough competition and we ended up losing to them. But, we played hard, the win just didn’t come. We won both of our Ohio Independent Championship (OIC) games against Ursuline! And, WE WON OUR NCCAA MIDWEST REGIONAL TOURNMAENT!! We beat both Spring Arbor and Indiana Wesleyan! Our last day of play was rained out, but since we had beaten both of those teams the day before, we were the winners!
This past week, the team had quite a few long bus rides. Ursuline was 3 hours and 45 minutes away and Spring Arbor was 4 hours and 30 minutes away! We discovered a new restaurant in Jonesville, Michigan called “The Saucy Dog.” It was great! We also ate at Olive Garden. The softball team ate so much good food. We also watched a few good movies on the long bus rides, such as, The Lion King 2, Beethoven 1 and 2, and Anastasia. It was a great week!
This week is our Ohio Independent Championship Tournament! My teammates will once again enjoy our new team motto, “Clear eyes, full hearts, can’t lose!”

This past week was a really busy one for the Lady Yellow Jacket softball team. We took on Urbana, Northern Kentucky, and Salem International!
We split with Urbana, we lost both games to Northern Kentucky, and we won both of our games against Salem International. During the first Salem International game, Kelsey Wilson hit a two-run homer to win the game in the bottom of the seventh. She also broke the school record for the most hits in a season when we played Northern Kentucky (76 hits). Kelsey had a great week and we are all proud of her!
On another note, the team has been having a ton of laughs with each other and the coaches. Everybody has been picking up their game! This week, we will be playing Indianapolis, Ursuline, and then our NCCAA Midwest Regional Tournament will take place on Friday and Saturday at Spring Arbor, Michigan.
Indianapolis will be a huge competitor for us because they are ranked 2nd in the nation in NCAA Division II. We are going to have to bring our “A” game to each of these games!
Some of my teammates might enjoy this phrase, “Clear eyes, full hearts, can’t lose!”

Hello from the Lady Jacket softball team!
This past week was an intense week of competition for us as we took on Walsh and West Virginia State. We split with both of these teams; each game was tight!
We have not been at our fullest strength due to injuries. We are working hard to pick up our offense and defense. Our Walsh games were at home and this was nice because a good amount of people came out and watched the games.
The bus ride on the way to West Virginia State was crazy! We almost got into an accident because a car stopped suddenly in front of our bus and we almost fell into a ditch on the side of the road. Also, there was a bad case of motion sickness going around the bus.
In other news, on the way back from West Virginia, we had our first-ever team bus ride karaoke session! Everybody got up and sang different songs in order to pass the time away from our 3 hour and 15 minute bus ride. We tried to get the coaching staff to sing, but they ended up recording us singing instead. The team has really been having a fun time together. There have been so many jokes and laughs!
We are hoping to take six wins this week against Urbana, Northern Kentucky, and Salem International. Come out and support!

Happy Easter from the Lady Jacket softball team!!
Last week was a tough one for us as we took on Lake Erie, Malone, and Notre Dame (Ohio). We swept both Lake Erie and Malone, but lost both of our games against Notre Dame. It was still a good week for the softball team, despite our losses against Notre Dame.
On Thursday, almost the entire team went out to eat dinner after practice. This was a great way of bonding and catching up.
Another exciting event that happened last week was our first ever Egg-A-Palooza! On Friday night, some of the girls went over to Coach Kim’s house after our games against Malone to color Easter eggs, eat pizza, and snack on Jello eggs. This was a great event since most of the girls on the team would not be able to go home for Easter and color eggs with their own families.
On Sunday, every girl had a place to go for Easter. Some went home and others decided to spend Easter with somebody else’s family. A few of us went to Kenleigh Ludlow’s house for some great Easter fun!!! We went to church, ate a great meal, and partook in another Easter egg hunt.
All in all, this past week was a good time for the team. Even though we lost two games, this will not discourage us. We are ready to come out, play hard, and win some more games this coming week!

This past week was a busy week for the Lady Jacket softball team. First off, we traveled four hours on Wednesday to Lake Erie, Ohio and beat them two times.
Then on Thursday, we had a relaxing batting practice before our double-headers on Friday and Saturday. Friday, was another day of heavy traveling. We had a four hour trip to Salem International and we split with them.
Saturday, we had two home games against Huntington, beating them both times! These wins were exciting because we had some stiff competition!
There were also a lot of home runs this week!!! Including, Shelby Young, Kelsey Warrington, and Kelsey Wilson! The team’s bats are really starting to get hot. Every single girl is contributing offensively and/or defensively.
The bus rides this week were crazy! There were tons of pranks, including stealing Coach Kim’s phone on the way back from Salem International. We hid her phone for the entire four hour trip back to Cedarville. It was a good time of laughs! But, all in all, this past week was a great week for the softball team!
This week, we have two home games, so hopefully we will have a lot of fans come out to support us as we take on both Lake Erie and Malone again!

This past week was an exciting week for the Lady Jacket softball team! We won both our games on Wednesday against Concordia University! The bus ride to and from Michigan was a lot of fun and the team had some great laughs!
This past weekend was supposed to be our Cedarville Classic, but due to bad weather, we lost a day of play on Friday. So, we came out ready to play on Saturday. The day started out gloomy, but ended up being a beautiful day for softball. We were able to play on Saturday thanks to our amazing ground crew. Taking the wet and muddy tarp off of the field was not an easy task, but the team worked well together. We had a few girls almost fall underneath the tarp while we were taking it off of the field, which was really funny to see. After the field was fixed up and ready for games, we played a doubleheader against Salem International and won both games.
Then we played Malone University and won that game as well. This now leaves us 15 and 10 with plenty more games to go! This upcoming week is going to be a busy week with travelling and playing both Lake Erie and Salem International. We also play Huntington at home on Saturday (March 31st)!
We are hoping to take home 6 wins this week!

Hello again! The Lady Jackets’ softball team has been having a lot of fun bonding with each other. There are so many prank wars and jokes being played. Everybody is really getting acquainted with each other.
This was a pretty good weekend for the Lady Jackets’ softball team. We split with both the University of Findlay and Malone University. We came out hard on Friday and Saturday ready to take on two tough competitors. Friday, we achieved our first team win against the University of Findlay in seven years. At the Findlay games, Coach Rowe and some of our players were interviewed by a national radio station called, “A Second Look At Sports.”
Saturday, we played two games against Malone University and came out with a win and a loss against them. The team has not been at its fullest strength yet due to injuries. All four of our pitchers have suffered injuries causing two of them to sit out some games. This has caused for some major adjustments on the field.
The team took Sunday and Monday off of practice and is going to come out ready to practice hard on Tuesday. Also, on Wednesday, we are ready to take on Concordia in Ann Arbor, Michigan! We are going to play hard and hopefully bring home two wins against Concordia.
In other news, the Cedarville Classic starts on Friday, March 23rd. Come out to the field and support us! The schedule is up online in case anybody wants to come check our games out!
Also, I would like to give a shout out to Kelsey Warrington for hitting her second home run of the season against Malone!

We’re back! The Lady Jacket softball team is back from our Spring Break tournament in Florida. We finished the tournament 8-8! This was not a bad tournament at all! We faced some decent competition in the Sunshine State. We played against some great softball players, but that didn’t stop us from taking home eight wins! All of our players came ready to play hard and give it their all.
Although, every girl had their moments of greatness, a noteworthy achievement that occurred in Florida was a home run hit against West Chester by Kelsey Warrington!
These games were a great warm-up to start the season and the Lady Jacket softball team is ready to come out to attain a winning season! The team had a lot of fun on this trip too! There was a lot of team bonding through pranks, jokes, team meals, and going to many tourist attractions.
Also, 12 families of the 14 girls on the team were able to attend the tournament. Most of the girls were able to hang out with their families and spend time going to Disney, the beach, etc. in their free time.
But, there is no rest for the weary! CU softball has a doubleheader this Friday (March 16th) at Findlay and another double-header on Saturday (March 17th) at Malone. We are going to play to the best of our abilities and we are hoping to win all four games!

Hello from bright and sunny Florida! It’s been a tough two days of competition. The team is still trying to come together for a win! We are trusting in God to help us to improve our performance down here.
Sunday was a good day of worship and rest. One of the teams that we play is ranked #19 in NCAA Division II. We need to bring our “A” game! We are coming back today ready to hustle, play hard, and step up our game.

Spring Break is coming up and while most will be soaking up some rays on the beach, the Lady Jacket softball team will be playing 16 games in Orlando, Florida! The team is really excited to head out and finally start the 2012 season. We have been conditioning and practicing hard throughout the fall and winter and are ready to start the season this upcoming Friday with a double header against Gannon University.
There is a lot of talent on this team and we are going to come out ready to play! This is going to be a great year! Keep it here for Lady Jacket softball news!
