Hi, guys!! Sorry, it’s been a little while. I just wanted to end this year’s blog by saying thank you to all of you who followed us and supported us throughout our season!! We couldn’t have done it without you. I have loved keeping you guys updated each week, and I hope you enjoyed reading these blogs :)
We are going to be keeping busy this post-season and summer, and I know that there will be a lot of growth that takes place both on and off the court for our team! I know that we are all looking forward to next season.
Thanks for sticking this year out with us, through the ups and the downs. We appreciate all of you!

It’s been kind of a crazy couple of weeks, so let me tell you all about it!
When it comes to the past couple of games, as most of you who have been following along know, we beat Malone in the quarter finals, and then ended up losing to Tiffin in the semifinals. Obviously that’s not how we expected the tournament to go. We faced all the emotions after that game.
BUT, I am so happy that I get to end this update with exciting news!! We came back together on Sunday night to watch the NCAA Div. II Tournament Selection Show! With a 19-5 record, we received the #4 seed, and we play Walsh this Friday at 6 PM in the first round of the Atlantic Regional. Actually, as I’m writing this we just arrived at the Columbus Convention Center, where we will be staying for the next few days.
Today and tomorrow will be filled with lots of testing, homework, practice, relaxing, and euchre!! :) Anyways, please be praying for us, and for our game on Friday. We are so excited for another opportunity to play, and to make history!! I can't wait to write about this experience with you guys when we get back! So grateful for this team, and how special this year has been.
Remember to
tune in Friday at 6 PM!
Thank you guys!!

IT’S GAME DAY AND CONFERENCE TOURNAMENT WEEK!!!
This is the week that we talk about all the way back in preseason, and we could not be more pumped! We play Malone tonight at 6:30 PM in Callan. Get your
tickets and come support us!! We need as many people there as possible.
We beat Hillsdale this past weekend, 92-72, to clinch the regular season conference championship! Shout out to Emily Chapman, who scored her career-high of 31 points, while also adding nine boards. Celebrating in the locker room after that win was so rewarding :) We got hibachi on the way back to celebrate! I love road trips with this team, and I wish they never had to end.
When it comes to this week we are more excited than anything as we take it one game and one day at a time. Let’s go get a conference championship!!!!
I better see you all at our game tonight! (Or at least watching
online!)

Another week, another blog!
On Thursday, we celebrated our two amazing seniors, Ashyln Huffman and Stevie Johnting, on their Senior Night. They are two of the easiest people to celebrate, and have so much to be proud of! We ended up losing to Walsh on a buzzer beater, 81-79, and I think one of the hardest parts was not winning that game for our seniors. Basketball can bring on a whole roller coaster of emotions, and I’m going to be real honest when I say that that game was heartbreaking. And as much as I wish I could go back and change the outcome, I know that we have so much to look forward to. So, thank you Ash and Stevie for your leadership and constant drive to get better, and for leading every single one of us in that same way.
I thought you guys would want to know some of their favorite parts of this season, and what they plan to do after they graduate, so I asked them a few questions, and here’s what they had to say :)
ASHYLN HUFFMAN
What is your favorite part about this team?
“Being able to flip between deep conversations about Jesus to acting like total idiots”
What is something you want to thank your coaches for?
“How much they care about their players’ growth as a people (not just basketball). They have poured so much into my life and have taught me so much outside of basketball, and I will forever be thankful for them.”
What will you miss the most?
“Living in the townhouse with my girls”
What are you looking forward to in the future?
“GETTING MARRIED this summer and optometry school!”’
STEVIE JOHNTING
What is your favorite part about this team?
“I absolutely love how close our team is. We truly are a family no matter what happens, good or bad! Being bestfriends with your teammates is so awesome and I am beyond thankful for each one of them!”
What is something you want to thank your coaches for?
“Each coach has encouraged me greatly over the years and pushed me to be the player and person that I am today! I am thankful for their dedication and how much they care about me as an individual not just as a player. Their competitiveness and joy is so fun to be around, both on and off the court. I will miss it!”
What will you miss the most?
“I will miss all of the laughs that I have shared with the team over the years. It has been so fun to be around girls who are not only hilarious, but even more than that, awesome people.”
What are you looking forward to in the future?
“I look forward to getting a teaching job this summer and hopefully becoming a coach as well. I am so excited to have my own classroom of littles!”
We love our seniors!!!
Anyways, looking forward, we don’t play until next Saturday (Feb. 27th), and that game will be at Hillsdale, as we finish out G-MAC play! We can’t wait to get back on the court together, and that starts this week at practice!
Thanks for all of the support and for sticking with us throughout this season!

CUWBB FANS! We have a lot to recap this week! If you missed any of our last five games in the past week or so...here’s a little update!
We played Ohio Valley last Thursday and won 84-52. Then, we played Tiffin on Saturday and lost 83-70. As you can imagine that was not a great feeling, and a feeling that we haven’t had to face a lot this season. But, with that being said, this team doesn’t stay down for long. We had the decision to continue down that path, or get back to playing like ourselves. We had a quick turn around, with a game against Findlay on Monday, so it was the perfect opportunity to focus our energy on the defensive end and let that flow into and fuel the rest of our game. We ended up beating Findlay 77-69. Ashlyn Huffman (#5) had a triple double with 18 points, 10 assists, and 10 rebounds, and Emily Chapman (#0) had eight three-pointers. Shout out to these two for leading the way! Lastly, just this past Thursday, we played Trevecca and won 82-75, and then lost to Kentucky Wesleyan 89-84 on Saturday. That was another tough game that we battled through. Every game, no matter the result, shows us ways that we can be better moving forward both individually and as a team, and that is our focus.
Looking ahead, we play Walsh on Thursday at 5:00 PM, and that’s also Senior Night! Whether it’s
in person or
online, we hope you can help us celebrate our seniors, and Walsh is a really big game for us! Then, we will finish out conference play (that is so crazy to say!) next Saturday, Feb. 27 at Hillsdale at 1:00 PM.
To end this blog I wanted to share a little piece of encouragement that I hope gives you a fresh perspective on what it means to find joy and strength in the Lord!
Psalm 16:11 “You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.”
It’s pretty easy to say that joy is found in Jesus, but it’s not always the easiest to let that truth change the way that we live. I have been learning that Jesus is truly the only source of joy in life, and because He remains the same, my joy is consistent despite circumstances. So, I challenge you, along with myself, to spend time in God’s presence this week, because it is in His presence, that we find all that we are looking for in life, including steadfast and consistent joy that nothing else in this life can give us. Experiencing that strength and joy, even in the midst of difficulty, should create in us a gratefulness for such a strong God!!
Okay, I think that's all :) Thanks for all of your support! We love you guys!

Welcome back to this week’s blog!!
We played at Ohio Valley last Thursday, and won 77-49. We were so happy, because that game was Coach Hoffman’s 100th win as head coach at Cedarville!!! We celebrated with her, and we couldn’t be happier for her! I speak on behalf of everyone when I say that we couldn’t ask for a better coach, leader, and mentor to have in our lives. She has impacted all of us, in different ways, for the better.
We played Ursuline on Saturday and won 90-86. We had a pretty good lead most of the game, and then they ended up coming back in the fourth quarter. Shout out to Emily Chapman (#0) for scoring 12 of her 17 points in the fourth to keep us in the lead. Along with Emily, Ise Bolender (#11) finished with 18 points, and Ashyln Huffman (#5) finished with 16 points. Ursuline was a good, competitive game for us to play on Saturday, and we are glad that we made tough plays toward the end to win.
I don’t have too many other updates for you guys this week, so I wanted to ask the sophomores the same question from last week: What is something that most people don’t know about you? And here’s what they said :)
Paige Garr #4 - got shingles in the third grade, when the average age of someone who gets shingles is over 50 years old.
Abby Freeman #12 - was obsessed with Amish people in middle school.
Allie Marshall #20 - loves jet skiing on the Ohio River.
We look forward to playing Ohio Valley at home on Thursday at 5:30 PM, and Tiffin (on the road) on Saturday at 1:00 PM.
Appreciate you guys!

Hi, guys!! I hope you’re all doing well, and having a great week!
As most of you know, we played at Lake Erie on Saturday, and won 58-55. Even though we won, we knew we didn’t play our best, and we decided that we needed to sit on that game for a little bit, instead of forgetting about it right away. We each needed to process what we could’ve done better, and why the game went the way it did. The next morning we watched film for a while, and then had a short practice focusing on the areas of the game that may seem small, but that affect us in big ways. In the highs and the lows I love being on a team that is committed to getting better, learning from our mistakes, and moving forward together no matter what.
The good thing is we had a very quick turn around, and played Lake Erie again on Monday night and won 112-58. We were able to execute everything that our coaches asked of us, and we felt a lot better! Looking forward, we leave for Ohio Valley on Thursday and play them at 5:30 PM.
And to end, just for fun I asked the junior girls to tell us something about themselves that not many people may know!
Ise Bolender #11 - singing is her favorite thing to do, even though she is tone deaf.
Lexi Moore #44 - she loves baking, and her cookies are to die for.
Emily Chapman #0 - she’s ambidextrous, and can shoot threes with her left hand.
Okay, well that’s just about everything for this week :) Make sure to
tune in on Thursday!

WHAT’S UP JACKET FANS!
This week has been busy with four games in just a little over one week! As you know, we played Hillsdale last Thursday and won 83-63, and we had five girls score in double digits, including Abby Freeman (#12), who scored a career-high of 11 points!! Then, fast forward to Saturday, where we defeated Ohio Dominican (our only loss this season), 93-63. Some wins feel better than others, and that one felt good. I want to shout out the whole team for that win, including Emily Chapman who had five 3's, Ashlyn Huffman who had nine assists, and Anne Wheeler who had one great defensive game. I could go on and on about every girl, but I’ll just say I’m so proud of this team.
We practiced on Monday morning, got all packed up, and then left for Nashville that afternoon. We went to Carrabba’s for dinner, and then had Bible study back at the hotel. Coach Hoffman has been leading us in a relationship series, and so last night we had our three coaches, John, Steve, and Jimmy, answer questions based on relationships. They are so wise, and I’m speaking on behalf of our whole team when I say that we look up to them, the way they treat people, and the way they live their lives. We woke up for shoot around the next morning, and then went to the Pancake Pantry afterward. We have gone there the past couple of years for breakfast, and we absolutely love it. AND then after waiting most of Tuesday, we played Trevecca at 4:30 PM, and ended up beating them 94-61. Every game is a big game for us, and we try to keep our focus on the one that we have right in front of us. We're loving it, and having so much fun.
We will travel to Lake Erie in Painesville on Saturday to play at 1:00 PM, so make sure you
tune in!
Talk to you guys soon :)

Hey everyone! Last week is going to be such a fun week to recap, but first, just in case you’re getting sick of hearing from me every week, I asked our captains (Ashlyn, Stevie, and Lexi) a couple questions so you get to hear from them :)
I asked them what their favorite part of this year has been and/or something they are currently learning!
I was excited to ask them these questions, because they are a huge part of what makes this team special, and they lead us so well.
Ashlyn Huffman
Ashlyn Huffman #5
Favorite part of this year: “Winning at Walsh and Kentucky Wesleyan, and ending their winning streaks!”
Something she is learning: “Honesty is not always the easiest thing to hear, but if you don’t have close people in your life telling you honest things about yourself (that probably makes you mad) you will never be able to grow like God wants you to.”
Stevie Johnting
Stevie Johnting #13
Favorite part of this year + something she is learning: “Being a senior, I am definitely just learning how to enjoy every single moment out on the court with my teammates. It can be hard to remain positive and to not worry with a constant unknown future in front of you. But, I am beyond thankful that we get to play the game that we love together, while having fun doing it! God has blessed our team so extremely much this season, and it’s encouraging to know that we are playing for Him each day. I am going to miss these precious times with my teammates and coaches. I am constantly reminded to give it my all no matter the circumstances, especially because it is my last go around! I absolutely love this team, and I’m so excited to make more memories this season.”
Lexi Moore
Lexi Moore #44
Something she is learning: “God has been teaching me recently how to point my arrows outward while seeking to serve others. With the crazy year this has been, it is very easy to grumble and complain about our circumstances, but the Lord has been showing me how to encourage others. Coincidentally, our team has had the opportunity to do a few service projects at coach’s church, and this has also really shown me the impact that service can make!”
They are the best!!!
Anyways, this past weekend we drove to Owensboro, Kentucky on Friday night. We catered Olive Garden, and then played a ton of euchre that night. Road trips are always the best because we just have so much time together, and we make so many memories. We woke up on Saturday morning for a walk through, ate breakfast, and then headed over to play Kentucky Wesleyan. It was a battle, but we ended up winning 81-75. Shout out to Paige (#4) who finished with a career high of 19 points!! She played so well, and was huge in that game for our team, and then I also want to shout out Ashlyn (#5) who not only had 16 points, but 12 rebounds, and 8 assists!!! It felt so good to win at that arena, as we broke their 37 (home) game winning streak!
This week we play Hillsdale at 5:00 PM Thursday, January 14, in Callan (
Watch LIVE)! We are excited for any chance to play, and can’t wait for this week! Thank you for your continued support.

It’s been too long since I’ve last written! We all had a great break at home, but I will say it is good to be back :) especially since COVID decided to extend my break a little longer than expected! But I am learning that when we choose to loosen our grips on controlling everything, it makes things a lot less stressful. So that is what I tried to do this past week at home. As hard as it was watching the girls play from my couch, I am so proud of their fight against Tiffin on Saturday, and I’m so thankful to be back with them now! If you missed that one, we ended up winning 79-65, after being up 25 at half.
We were originally supposed to leave on Wednesday for Nashville, but our game against Trevecca got rescheduled for Monday at 2:00 PM, so we do not play again until Saturday at 1:00 PM. We will travel to Kentucky Wesleyan Friday night to get ready for a very big game.
We are moving our way through G-MAC play as we are currently 6-1. We will continue to control what we can control, and that is to work as hard as we possibly can every chance that we get. Thank you for all of your continued support and love!
I’ll talk to you guys soon.

December 23, 2020
Hey, guys! I hope you’re all having a great week. I can’t believe Christmas is in just two days!!
Last week was big for CUWBB :) We beat Malone and Walsh in the same week!!!!! We beat Malone 87-58 on Wednesday. That was one of my favorite games, because every single person on our team contributed in some way. Special shout out to my roomie, Emily Chapman (#0), who led us with 24 points!! On Friday night, our last night before break, we had our team Christmas party where we catered Olive Garden, did our gift exchange, and played games. Then our coaches surprised us with renting out a room at the movie theater to watch Christmas Vacation. We are spoiled, and sometimes I wonder how in the world I got so lucky to have the coaches and teammates that I do.
Fast forward to Saturday, AKA THE BEST DAY EVER, where we ended Walsh’s 26-game win streak with a 90-71 victory. Celebrating that win after the game was special. I’m just so proud of this team. Shout out to Ise Bolender (#11), who showed so much leadership on Saturday through the way that she played. She ended up with 24 points and 10 rebounds!! It was the perfect way to start our Christmas break to say the least.
When we get back, we have four games in one week, so we are working hard to stay in shape during our time off! Aside from working out, we are enjoying some much needed time with our families, and we hope you are too!
CUWBB wishes you a Merry Christmas!

Lady Jacket fans!
Welcome back to this week’s blog. I know I promised you guys two more wins last week, and that’s just what we did :) We beat Ursuline last Wednesday 85-75. We ended up gaining a bigger lead towards the end, but it was close throughout the majority of the game. Road games are never easy to play, but we definitely needed that win. On Saturday we played Malone, and this was also a big game for us as Malone beat us twice last year, once at home and then again in the first round of the G-MAC Tournament. We prepared hard last week, and on Saturday, we made sure to be ready mentally before anything else. We ended up winning 87-78. The more games that we play, the more we are growing as a team, and it has been so much fun.
This week we have two HUGE games. We play Malone again on Wednesday, in Canton, at 6:00 PM, and then we play at Walsh on Saturday at 1:00 PM. This is our last week of games before we all head home for Christmas! As excited as we are to be home with our families and to rest, we know that this is a big week for us, and we are focused and ready to win two tough games.
On behalf of CUWBB, thank you for watching our games whether that’s in person or online!
We hope you all have the best Christmas!!

December 8, 2020
Hey guys! This week I get to recap not only our second week of Christmas break, but also how our first week of games went!
We have been spending a lot of time together, but that’s what makes break so much fun. When we’re not practicing and playing games, we are probably shopping (we really need to stop), or watching lots of Netflix and movies as a team. On Tuesday, we also had the opportunity to do a couple service projects where we loaded up boxes and dropped them off at different churches, and then later that night we helped wrap Christmas presents. Coach Hoffman does a great job at keeping us busy which we love! One thing that we get to look forward to this week is dinner at Black Rock (one of our favorite restaurants) on Thursday. Also, while we’re talking about food, thank you to all of you who are cooking for us, and providing us with meals throughout the week, we are very appreciative and can’t thank you enough!
We ended up losing at Ohio Dominican 95-92 last Thursday. It didn’t feel good to lose our first game, and honestly we weren’t expecting to start our season that way. Afterwards, we agreed that despite the loss, we were thankful to get a game in, because it showed us where we were at as a team, and everything that we need to work on moving forward. We struggled defensively against ODU, and looking back, in a way, I am glad that we did because we left that night completely unsatisfied. We committed to being better, and to trusting each other more, especially on the defensive end.
Fast forward to Saturday, and our HUGE win over Findlay. We were up by 20 at halftime, and ended up winning 91-75. It was the most rewarding game to win, and an entirely different team showed up on Saturday. We executed our plan, and we trusted each other. That win felt good, and our coaches were extremely happy with the way we played. ALSO, on Saturday, Ashlyn Huffman scored her 1,000th career point, while finishing with 25 points! We were all so happy for her. She is an incredible player and leader, and every single person that plays with her benefits from her leadership and work ethic. So if you see her make sure to congratulate her, because she deserves it!!
This week we play Wednesday (Dec. 9th) at Ursuline at 5:30 PM, and then on Saturday (Dec. 12th) we play Malone in Callan at 1:00 PM. I know I said this last week, but thank you for all of your support, and for
watching our games, even if it’s not in person this year. We will bring back two more wins for you guys this week!

December 1, 2020
Hi everyone! It’s Allison, also known as Mader :) I am so excited to be writing our team’s blog posts this year. Any opportunity that I have to talk about this team, and the heart behind our program, I will gladly take.
Before talking about our season, I want to introduce our two new additions to you!
Lydia Sweeney and
Anne Wheeler are our freshmen this year. We love them so much already. Lydia is from Grand Island, New York. She is one of the most fun-spirited people you will ever meet, and she brings so much energy to our team. Anne is from Cincinnati, Ohio. Having a freshman that works as hard as her, especially on defense, is so fun to play alongside of. We’re so thankful that the Lord led these two to our team, and we can’t wait to see how He uses them during their time at Cedarville.
I know this year has looked different for everyone. COVID has definitely affected our season with our games being pushed back a month, along with the constant uncertainty of what each week could look like. Practicing for four straight months with no games has not been the easiest thing, but this pre-season has shifted our perspective and has made us more grateful for the time that we do have together, knowing that it could be taken away at any moment. With all of that said, we are SO EXCITED that this week is FINALLY GAME WEEK. We play Thursday against Ohio Dominican at 5:30 p.m. in Columbus, so make sure to
watch the live video stream!!
Thank you to each and everyone of you who have supported, and who continue to support our program in one way or another. We are so excited for this season, whatever it may look like, trusting and knowing that the Lord is in control of everything. I can’t wait to share our season, the highs and the lows, with all of you through this blog!
