Hi everyone!
I’m Caleb Fauth, a sophomore communications major and javelin thrower!
It’s unfortunate that I’m writing under these circumstances that the Coronavirus has put us in. But, we can still have hope that this will subside soon!
While yes, the virus has brought a lot of heartache to the team (especially our seniors) it has honestly caused us all to grow closer. After everyone left campus, it was just the track team and a few others on campus. This gave us a lot of spare time we usually don’t have. We were able to spend tons of time together, and were able to get to know each other better then we ever really have. One of our last days on campus, we were able to have a “Last Hoorah” get together, which involved the seniors passing the torch to the juniors. The Cedarville track seniors have left a legacy that will not be forgotten.
Our outdoor season was looking very promising. Lots of hard work went into the preparation for the 2020 season. This was going to be a season to remember. We had a few freshmen that looked to score some big points in the G-MAC, many other athletes that were likely going to place high, and of course, our NCAA DII outdoor champion, Tommy Ansiel. He was looking to put on a show this season. Our javelin squad was predicted to do well this season. After being ranked 17th in the nation as an event group, we were looking to break the Top 10. While this season didn’t go our way, we have to look at the positive and realize that “hey this just gives us more time to prepare.”
Yes, our season was canceled, but we understand the seriousness of this pandemic, and if the those in authority saw fit to cancel our much anticipated season, then that is what needed to happen.
A huge thanks goes out to our devout coaches who have dealt with just about the hardest thing a coach can deal with. Another thanks goes to our seniors. Thank you for showing us what truly Christ-centered leaders look like, and for showing us what serious hard work and grit looks like. Your hard work and dedication has not gone unnoticed.
Thanks all,
Caleb Fauth
