Hello Jacket fans!

This has been quite the ride, but unfortunately our season came to an end tonight. Since Mader last updated you all, we were able to get a big win against Ohio Dominican on Senior Day for our last home game. However the last three games of the season were plagued with losses. While this is not exactly the outcome we would have hoped for, we are still really proud of all that we have accomplished this season both on and off the court. We are thankful for the relationships that we have with each other off the court most of all. We are so blessed to have each of these girls on this team for a reason.

We are also so blessed to have a program that is so life changing for all that have the privilege of being a part of it. I think us four seniors can really speak to that as we have been a part of it for four years now. I asked each of them to share a little bit about what the program means to them and/or how it has impacted them and this is what they had to say:

Ise Bolender #11: “This program means everything to me. From the life long lessons it has taught me about being a better friend, teammate, leader and follower of Christ to the lifelong relationships I have formed, I am forever grateful for my time being a part of CUWBB.”

Emily Chapman #0: “This program and these girls have changed my life. From freshman to senior year, people have poured into my life because they truly wanted the best for me and to see me grow in all aspects of life. I hope I was able to do the same for others. I'll always be thankful for this sisterhood.”

Allison Mader #24: “This program is so close to my heart and it always will be. No words can really describe the way that it has changed my life but I’m so grateful to have had the honor of being a part of it. I am going to miss it.”

Lexi Moore #44: “It has been such an honor and privilege to be a part of the CUWBB program for the last four years. It has taught me so much about myself and how to be a better teammate and friend to others. I will cherish the memories and friendships for the rest of my life. It has truly been my greatest blessing to play here with so many amazing people who will always have a special place in my heart!”

I think the quotes speak for themselves of how much of an impact this program has had on all of us. We are forever grateful. It has been an awesome journey and chapter in our lives. I know that the younger girls will continue to have great success and memories even after we are gone and we will continue to pray for them as they all go on to do great things!

Lastly, thank YOU to all of the faithful supporters. We appreciate y’all so so much. While this year has come to an end, the tradition will continue into next year. It has been a pleasure updating you all this year & thank you to those who have kept up.

As always, GOOOO JACKETS!

Hi everyone!!

I am here to update you on all that we’ve been up to! We got two big wins last week against Lake Erie and Ursuline, and we just beat Ohio Dominican in OT by three on Wednesday!! Road games are tough so I’m proud of this team for getting it done!

Looking towards the end of this week, we play Ohio Dominican again on Saturday at 2 PM and it just so happens to be Senior Day :) you don’t want to miss it!

It’s so crazy to think that we are already closing out the regular season next week! We need your support to finish out this season, and we thank you for all of the encouragement and love throughout it!

Also special shout outs to Ise, Makenna, and Anne. They are killing their recoveries and show up everyday with a smile on their faces. They are the last to complain about anything and they deserve more recognition than they get :) Please keep them in your prayers as they continue to recover!!

Talk to you guys soon!

We hosted Walsh this past Monday night. Although we didn’t get the outcome we wanted, we are ready to bounce back and finish strong with the regular season quickly coming to an end.

The rest of the week is still pretty busy for us. Off the floor, we have exams and other homework assignments like always. On the floor, we have two more games:

Wednesday at Lake Erie @ 7:30 PM (we have the late game!!)
Saturday at Ursuline @ 2:00 PM

To finish out this blog, I’d like to give a shout-out to the CU Baseball team as they begin their season this week with games down in Georgia. Good luck to them!

Thank you for your continued support! As always, GO JACKETS!! :)

Hello Jacket Fans!
Lexi Moore
Lexi Moore

As Ise mentioned last time, we were looking forward to avenging a previous Hillsdale loss and we were able to do just that! It was a great game for both teams, but we were able to come out with the win! We continued on the rest of the week and played a tough game against Findlay at home as well as another tough one against Kentucky Wesleyan. Each of these games resulted in some close losses, but we are still very proud of how hard we played in each of these games. We will continue to keep this theme of playing hard the rest of the season and hopefully come out with some more dubs to finish out the regular season going forward.

As an update for off the court, we are all busy with school work and exams most days. However, due to a crazy snow storm, we were blessed with not one, but TWO snow days this week! This was a much needed break from classes to get some more work done and enjoy some fun outside (:

Due to some rescheduling, we have another full week of games coming up next week. We take on Trevecca at home on Feb. 5th at 2:00 pm and then Walsh at home on Monday, Feb. 7th at 5:30 pm. To round out the week, we will travel to Lake Erie on Wednesday Feb. 9th and take another road trip up to Ursuline on Saturday, Feb. 12th.

We appreciate all of your continued support throughout the season! We are looking forward to seeing you all again in Callan this coming week!

As always, GOOOO JACKETS!

Hi everyone!
Isabelle Bolender
Isabelle Bolender

We have a busy week ahead of us, with three tough conference games packed into six days. Coming off a tough road loss to Ashland on Monday, we play Findlay at home on Thursday and then travel to Hillsdale on Saturday.

We are currently 6th in the G-MAC Standings, sitting behind a Malone team that we have already beat once at home. While we are not looking past a gritty Findlay team, we have our eyes set on avenging a loss we suffered to Hillsdale at home in mid-December.

And lastly I'd like to introduce the newest member of our team, Kat Weakley! She is a freshman transfer who will be eligible to play for us starting next season. We are super excited to have her a part of this team.

Thank you for your continued support and prayers, we hope to see you all in Callan this Thursday at 5:30 PM!

Hi guys!! It’s Mader here this week :)
Allison Mader
Allison Mader

There is not too much to update you guys on other than we started classes again this past week! Christmas break always goes by so fast, but we are excited to continue on in our season, hopefully with some more fans since everyone is back :) This past week we only had one game against Malone on Saturday, and we ended up winning by three! This was a huge win for us!! Before the game, Emily got awarded for her 1,000 career points so if you see her sometime this week make sure to congratulate her if you haven’t already!!

This upcoming week we play Tiffin on Thursday at 5:30 PM in Callan and Saturday at #7 Ashland at 1:00 PM!

These are two big games for us and we can’t wait to see you all there!

Thank you for all of your support!

Hey, CUWBB fans!

After a tough loss last Thursday to Ursuline, we bounced back and got a good conference win against Lake Erie on Saturday! I’d like to give two shout outs from that game. The first shout out goes to Lydia Sweeney for having a CAREER HIGH of 16 points!!!! And the second shout out goes to Leah Butterbaugh for scoring her first college points!!

On another note, we all started classes again this week. So now we will be back to our busy schedules of balancing schoolwork and basketball. We are excited for what this new year and semester has in store for each of us!

Our basketball schedule looks a little different this week due to COVID protocols. Our home game Thursday (January 13th) versus Walsh has been postponed. The makeup date for that game is Monday, February 7th at 5:30 pm. But, our game on Saturday (January 15th) is still on for 2 pm at home versus Malone! We hope to see you all there!

GO JACKETS!

Happy New Year CUWBB Fans!

There is quite a bit to recap since the last time we checked in, so here we go! As Mader mentioned last time, we got to go to Hawaii for a week! This was such a blessing and I think we all were blown away by how amazing everything was! I asked each of the girls what their favorite part was so you all can get a glimpse of some of the things we did:

Anna Landing: “Going to the Luau”

Taylor Strock: “Being at the North Shore all day then going to their little shops and eating pizza afterwards watching the sunset”

Taylor Stacy: “Going to the North Shore and seeing the huge waves and spending time with the team! It was also nice to relax in the sun!”

Lydia Sweeney: “The day at the North Shore and getting wrecked by the waves”

Allie Marshall: “The quality time and the adventures we got to take together!”Womens Basketball Luau

Makenna Fee: “Going to North Shore and watching the surfers and seeing the sunset with the team”

Abby Freeman: “Going to the North Shore and hanging out on the beach!”

Paige Garr: “Tanning on the beach”

Allison Mader: “Kai Coffee!!” (This was a local coffee shop we went to that had AMAZING coffee)

Emily Chapman: “Getting to go to the Luau”

Ise Bolender: “Playing in the waves at the North Shore”

Coach Smith: "Hawaii was a great balance of fun, sun, basketball, great cuisine, laughter with the team and basking in the splendor of God's creation. My favorite parts were the gorgeous rainbows, sunsets, and the hula pie from Duke's!"

Coach Key: “Admiring the beauty of God’s creation. I also loved having my parents travel and getting to experience that with them.”

Coach Buettell: “Reflecting on the beauty of God’s creation with all of the awesome people associated with our program. Basketball at Cedarville has allowed me to see/visit some awesome places and meet some amazing people.”

And my personal favorite part was definitely being on the beaches. We went to Waikiki beach and the beach on the North Shore. The water was so clear and we got to see sea turtles and surfers and mountains in the background. It was beautiful! In addition to all of the other things mentioned above, we also did a lot of shopping at different shops and malls, ate a TON of good food, and visited the Dole pineapple plantation! This was definitely a trip of a lifetime that none of us will forget!

On top of all the fun off the court, we also took care of business on the court! We played Embry-Riddle University on Friday (Dec. 17) and won 72-60 and then we played Northwest Indian College on Sunday (Dec. 19) and won 103-33! I also want to shout out our point guard, Emily Chapman, who not only was named the tournament’s MVP but also scored her 1,000th point during our game against Northwest Indian College! I also want to shout out Paige Garr and Allison Mader on being named members of the All-Tournament Team! It was definitely nice going into break with two dubs and tons of memories!

We all enjoyed a nice five day break at home for Christmas with our families and then we were back on campus and ready to get back to work. We also have a new face joining the team for the second semester, so I thought it might be nice to introduce her the same way we introduced the other girls at the beginning of the year!

Leah Butterbaugh (Freshman)
Hometown: Waynesville, Ohio
Favorite Basketball Player: Devin Booker
What are you looking forward to most the rest of the year: “Becoming friends with everyone and just bettering myself as a player while learning from you all!”

We are so excited to have her on the team!

After a few practices, we were back on the road to play Trevecca in Nashville, TN. We won 75-56 and then we continued on the road to Kentucky Wesleyan where we lost a tough one. We are excited to keep going with this team as we take on two more G-MAC opponents this week with Ursuline (Thursday, 5:30 PM) and Lake Erie (Saturday, 2 PM) at home! We hope to see you there!

As always, GOOOO JACKETS!

Hey, CU Jackets fans!

The beginning of this season, especially this past weekend, has tested us in many ways as a team. Through multiple big injuries and a couple of losses, we’ve realized how important it is to not only lean on God in the midst of trials but to also lean on one another. Our team is learning how to overcome adversity and truly be there for each other. I just want to say how blessed I am to have such a great group of girls walking alongside me through my time here at Cedarville.

On another note, it’s FINALS WEEK!!! Although we may be stressed out with exams and assignments that are due, I think it’s safe to say that we are all ready for this semester to be over. Plus, WE LEAVE FOR HAWAII NEXT WEEK! It will be a great time for us to relax with no worries about school and still get to play some basketball. We are so excited for this once in a lifetime opportunity!

Please continue to keep our teammates Makenna, Anne, and Ise in your prayers. Makenna has been able to have surgery and is beginning the recovery process. Anne and Ise have surgery coming up soon.

We have two more BIG conference games coming up this week:

    Thursday, Dec. 9 @ Findlay / 5:30 PM
Saturday, Dec. 11 HOME vs. HILLSDALE / 2:00 PM

Thank you for your continued support and prayers! Go Jackets!

Hello CUWBB fans!

Isabelle Bolender
Isabelle Bolender

We are coming off of a long, restful Thanksgiving break where we all were able to go home and spend some much needed time with our families. As a senior, I can confidently say that Thanksgiving break always comes at a perfect time. We all seem to be a little worn down physically and emotionally, as this is our first true break since preseason started back at the end of August. Now, feeling rejuvenated, we look forward to starting G-MAC play at the end of this week. We play at Tiffin University this Thursday, Dec. 2 (5:30 PM), and home against 11th-ranked Ashland on Saturday, Dec. 4 (2 PM).

As Lexi mentioned last week, we did have two players go down with season-ending knee injuries. Makenna Fee will be undergoing surgery this Thursday, and we would ask for continued prayers for her as she begins her journey of rehab.

The game against Ashland this Saturday will be a tough test for our team, so we would love to see you all at 2:00 PM in Callan cheering us on! Thank you for your continued support and prayers!

Go Jackets!

Hello Jacket Fans!

Lexi Moore
Lexi Moore
I just have to say that I have wanted to write for the blog since my freshman year, so I am quite honored that I finally have the chance to recap the last week (:

However, this last week did come with some heartbreak. In a super intense OT loss to Wayne State on Wednesday (Nov. 17), we had two of our teammates go down with season-ending knee injuries. As you can imagine, the whirlwind of emotions from a tough loss and losing two of our players was certainly challenging for the whole team. Please continue to lift them up in prayer as they go through this healing process together - I know they both will appreciate it!

Though we suffered some loss earlier in the week, we were able to recollect before going into Saturday’s game against the University of Indianapolis. This was a tale of two halves. In the first half, it just seemed like we were lacking some energy that we needed to finish the game. However, after some adjustments at half time, we came out strong in the third quarter and even went on a 12-0 run at one point. This spark continued into the fourth quarter where we were able to finish off the game with 75-64 W! This was just the win we needed going into Thanksgiving Break!

Speaking of Thanksgiving break...Coach Smith was gracious enough to let us have Wednesday through Saturday off this year (shout out to coach!!), so we will all be enjoying some much-needed rest, family time, and of course lots and lots of food (:

We will be back in action and starting G-MAC match ups as soon as we get back from break, so buckle up because the season is only just getting started!

We will be on the road at Tiffin on Dec. 2 and then back home against Ashland on Dec. 4. We hope to see you all real soon!

Thank you all for your continued support and as always, GOOOOO JACKETS!

CUWBB FANS!

Allison Mader

It’s Allison, also known as Mader :) If you followed along last year, I wrote most of the blogs, and have missed writing to you guys!

This past weekend was so much fun as we started our season out 2-0!!! We played Lake Superior State on Friday and won 88-37! We had a quick turnaround, and the next morning we had shoot around where we prepared for Southern Indiana. Later on Saturday we ended up winning 88-82 in overtime after an early 17 point deficit!!! There are a couple people I want to shout out - Paige Garr (#4) had 25 points and played a heck of a game. Emily Chapman (also known as #0 and MY ROOMMATE) had 20 points, and Isabelle Bolender (#11) had 19. Also shout out to Lexi Moore (#44) who had 12 rebounds!!

This weekend really was a complete team effort, and that is what I love about this team. The way that we are able to come together when we’re down, carry each other through each game, and celebrate each other’s successes both individually and as a whole, is what makes this team so special.

It’s so exciting to think that this weekend was just the beginning to a great season, and we cannot wait to have you guys following along and cheering us on every step of the way!

We play tomorrow (Nov. 17) at 5:30 PM against Wayne State and Saturday (Nov. 20) at 1 PM against Indianapolis. These are more big games for us so make sure you get there! We can’t wait to see you all in Callan!!

Hello, everyone!

Welcome back to the CU Women’s Basketball Blog! It’s Emily, also known as Chap. This year for the blog, we have decided that us four seniors will rotate each week when it comes to writing the Blog (Me, Ise Bolender, Allison Mader, and Lexi Moore). :)

Along with the new coaches on our team, we also have some new players that I would first like to introduce. To do this, I asked them all a few questions.

Makenna Fee (Junior, Transfer)
Hometown: Seymour, Indiana
Favorite basketball player: Candace Parker
What are you looking forward to most this year: “Playing with the girls on my team. They all work so hard every time they are on the court, and they all really want to help each other out.”

Karli Anker (Freshman)
Hometown: Akron, Ohio
Favorite basketball player: Giannis Antetokounmpo
What are you looking forward to most this year: “Having a fun and successful season with my best friends.”

Anna Landing (Freshman)
Hometown: Beavercreek, Ohio
Favorite basketball player: Michael Jordan
What are you looking forward to most this year: “Winning games with my teammates!”

Taylor Stacy (Freshman)
Hometown: Toledo, Ohio
Favorite basketball player: Kelsey Plum
What are you looking forward to most this year: “Getting closer to the team and our trip to Hawaii!!”

Taylor Strock (Freshman)
Hometown: Napoleon, Ohio
Favorite basketball player: Skylar Diggins
What are you looking forward to most this year: “Traveling with the team to Hawaii!”

We are SO EXCITED that it is finally game week and cannot wait to see everyone in the stands again like “normal.” We are extremely thankful for that. The season kicks off with the Midwest Region Crossover, which we finally get to host! So that means TWO HOME GAMES on BACK-TO-BACK nights! It doesn’t get much better than that!

Friday, Nov. 12 @ 7:45 pm vs. Lake Superior State in the Callan Athletic Center
Saturday, Nov. 13 @ 4:15 pm vs. Southern Indiana in the Callan Athletic Center

Thank you for all of your support, and Go Jackets! :)
