Welcome back Yellow Jacket fans!!
I am sorry it has been a while since I have written the last blog. I have not traveled since my injury, so I did my best to gather some information from the players and coach! Since my last blog, the team has competed in two tournaments. The first being the Findlay Spring Invitational held at Kentucky’s home course (Big Blue). The team turned in a good overall score, but finished 18th out of 19 teams. Freshman Caden Scarbrough led the way with scores of 74, 77, and 73 for a total of 224. Junior Will Evans was just behind with a total of 225.
Our next tournament, however, went down in the history books for our team!!! My teammates traveled down to the noisy city of Nashville and played the lights out (no pun intended). The tournament was hosted by Trevecca and played at Hermitage Golf Club. Junior Caleb Stimmel was on fire from the start, firing a four under 68 in the first round. He carded five birdies in the round and even had a hole out from fairway with a wedge. Although the solid score of 68 was one shot shy of the 18-hole school record, Caleb did not hesitate to break the 36-hole school record, firing a 69 in the second round for a total of 137. Caleb carded six birdies in the second round.
The team also took a shot off the previous 36-hole school record, firing 290 both days for a total of 580. Although the boys placed ninth out of 13 teams, I believe that we were all happy with how things panned out that weekend. The weekend fun did not only take place on the course…The team was able to join some fellow Cedarville friends and attend a few hockey games. A few other highlights of the weekend would be Caden petting a sheep on the course (LOL) and walking through downtown Nashville!
The boys will be traveling back to Big Blue in Kentucky this coming weekend to compete for a G-MAC Title!
Talk to y’all after the tournament!

Hello all Jackets Fans!!
The golf team arrived back to campus late Tuesday night after our two-day tournament in Pinehurst, North Carolina. It was a very long trip for the boys, playing six straight days in Florida, driving an entire day to North Carolina, and picking up the sticks again for the tournament. During the practice round, most of us noticed that the greens at Mid Pines were very receptive, meaning that we were able to spin the ball and control it around the greens quite well. However, as the weekend rolled around, the greens became a bit firmer and closer to a standard green for most of our tournaments.
Day One of the tournament was a bit of a struggle for most of the players. Freshman Caden Scarbrough led the way with scores of 71-78. Isaak Ramsey followed with a 76-78 and Caleb Stimmel with a pair of 81’s. I (Dyl) also came in with an 81 for the first round but had to withdraw from the second round after completing 12 holes due to an ongoing wrist injury. My left wrist continues to come out of place during rounds and it has been a struggle for me to swing a golf club. But that is beside the point…Will Evans started Day One with an 88 but turned his day around with a solid score of 70 in his second 18 holes. Rob Harris (82-80) and Ben Evans (87-89) both played as individuals.
The team was in seventh place out of eleven teams after Day One. Although we had a strong push over the course of our finishing holes on Day Two, the team stayed in seventh position to finish the tournament. Scores for the second day were: Isaak Ramsey (72), Caleb Stimmel (73), Caden Scarbrough (77), Will Evans (84), and I had to withdraw once again due to my injury after five holes of play. Rob Harris fired an 81 and Ben Evans finished with 89 on Day Two.
The team will be putting more work in the next couple weeks and we will be back in competition March 28th and 29th at the Findlay Spring Invitational which is held in Lexington, Kentucky at the Big Blue Golf Course.

Welcome back Yellow Jacket fans!!!
My name is Dylan Ledford and I have the honor of writing the golf blog this spring. Since this is my very first blog, let me introduce myself. As I said, my name is Dylan, but the team calls me Dyl, which is what I normally go by anyways. I am a sophomore at Cedarville and am currently in the Allied Health major. I plan on continuing my education to receive my doctorate degree in physical therapy upon graduation from Cedarville. We did not have a golf blog for the fall season of 2021, so I would like to take some time to catch y’all up on some things with our team…
For starters, I would like to introduce our newest additions to the squad this year! We had two incoming freshmen this past fall semester. Caden Scarbrough from North Canton, OH and Ben Evans (yes this is Will Evans’ younger brother) from Worthington, OH. We will have Will and Ben’s younger brother, Sam Evans, joining the club next year. We will be a pack of Evans coming at ya here soon! Although Ben was out this past fall with a foot injury, Caden was able to provide solid numbers in each tournament over the duration of the season. To conclude our fall season, the team finished second at NCCAA Nationals, which was held at Hammock Beach Resort in Palm Coast, Florida.
I am currently writing this in Tampa Bay, Florida…where the guys are for our spring break trip. We traveled down via two campus vans last Friday evening, stopping for one night in Georgia and arriving the next day. Coach hooked us up with a great air bnb with a heated pool and hot tub out back. We have enjoyed our stay so far! Each day we have played a different course (Thank you to a few trustees of Cedarville). On Sunday morning we visited Bell Shoals Church, where we listened to an amazing message delivered from none other than Corey Abney. Corey was also able to get us on Buckhorn Country Club Sunday afternoon. We will also be playing there Thursday and Friday this week. Yesterday we were able to get a round in at Grasslands Country Club, which was in pristine condition! Isaak Ramsey and I had the opportunity to play alongside Cedarville Trustee, Dan Green.
As a team we have made it a priority to spend time in God’s word together and learn a bit about each other. What exactly does that look like? Coach Bowen has led us through a few devotionals so far (mainly in Luke and Colossians) and then someone gets put in the “hot seat.” We were each asked to open up with the team and share who our hero is, a hardship that we have persevered through, and a highlight of our life. In doing this, I have personally felt like I have grown closer to my teammates!
Before we make our way back to Ohio to start classes again, we will be making a pit stop in Southern Pines, North Carolina to compete in our first tournament of the spring season at Mid Pines Inn & Golf Club hosted by Hillsdale College. I remember coming down to North Carolina for our first tournament last spring, and I can say without a doubt our team is feeling more confident and ready than then. Without having a spring break trip last year to prepare ourselves, we are so very thankful to be in Florida this week.
Dylan Ledford a sophomore from Apple Creek, Ohio. He is in his second year with the Yellow Jackets as an Allied Health major.
