Dr. Joy Fagan, a former Lady Jacket athlete and coach, is in her second season with the softball program as an assistant coach.
Fagan was Cedarville’s head softball coach for the 1996 season. She guided the Lady Jackets to a 19-20-1 overall record and a second-place finish in the Mid-Ohio Conference at 10-5-1. Cedarville qualified for the MOC Tournament, advanced to the championship game, and also made their first-ever appearance at the NCCAA Nationals.
Fagan was a women’s basketball assistant coach for four seasons under Kirk Martin from 2001-05. She helped guide the Lady Jackets to three NAIA national tournament appearances, two national runner-up finishes, and three conference championships.
Fagan was also an assistant to Martin at Southeastern High School from 1996-98. She was previously a basketball assistant at Cedarville for two seasons under head coach Kathy Freese from 1994-96.
Fagan also has coaching experience in several sports at the high school level. She was at the Greenbrier Christian Academy in Chesapeake, Va. from 1989-94 where she taught high school English and Spanish, and coached volleyball, basketball, and softball.
A three-year basketball player for the Lady Jackets, Fagan played from 1986-89 after transferring from Baptist Bible College. Cedarville was 20-10 her senior season, which was the first women’s team in school history to win 20 games, and the Jackets finished as the NCCAA national runner-up.
Dr. Fagan is an assistant professor of Bible at the University. She is a 1989 graduate of Cedarville College with a degree in English Secondary Education. She earned a master’s degree from Grand Rapids Baptist Seminary in 1999 and her Ed.D. from Southern Seminary in 2005. Joy is single and resides in Cedarville.
