Biography
Justin Herbert returns to the Yellow Jackets after sitting out last season as a red shirt.....finished among Cedarville’s top seven finishers in all eight varsity meets in 2006.....placed 8th at the NAIA Region IX Championship with a career-best time of 25:49 in the 8K.....All-AMC Second Team performer.....finished 5th in the Friendship Invitational in 26:13.....competed in the distance events on the track in 2007 and 2008.
2005 - Ran in all eight varsity meets and finished his sophomore season as Cedarville's #3 runner.....placed among the team’s top seven finishers each time out and was in the top three seven times.....posted a season-best effort of 26:18 at the Friendship Invitational which placed 19th overall.....clocked in 26:19 at the NAIA Nationals and finished 28th of 228 runners at the Southeast Classic in 26:36.....saw limited action during the indoor and outdoor track campaigns.
2004 - Competed in all eight varsity meets as a freshman.....ended the year as the #6 runner.....ran a season-best 26:32 as CU’s #4 finisher at the Louisville Classic to place 80th of 397 participants.....finished 20th in the Friendship Invitational in 26:44.....placed 33rd at the NCCAA Nationals in 27:03.....competed during the indoor and outdoor track seasons.....finished 3rd in the 5K race walk in the AMC Championship.
High School - Three-time All-Greater Western Ohio Conference cross country runner at Division I Wayne High School.....four-year letter winner.....three-time all-district and all-area performer.....Team MVP.....four-time regional qualifier.....member of two district championship teams.....earned three letters in track & field.....twice qualified for regional competition.....part of three-time league, district, and regional championship squad.....team captain for both cross country and track programs.....selected to the GWOC All-Academic Team.....U.S. Marine Corps Distinguished Athlete Award recipient.....Junior Olympic national qualifier as a senior and was state runner-up as a junior.
Personal - Carries a middle childhood education major at Cedarville University.....born 8/7/86 in Pittsburgh, PA.....son of Andy and Sandy Herbert.....has an older brother and a younger brother.
